Tomorrow! I have an essay in it. Well, it's sort of an essay. It's technically an essay. It's an essay I wrote like a poem because I get to be like that if I want to be like that because writing for games is fun and writing about games is also fun! bsky.app/profile/inkl...

A new small joy I'm indulging in once in a while; walking down to my local 2nd hand bookstore and picking up a book of poetry by an author I don't know.
So many of these books are funded by the Canadian Council for the Arts.
I really hope we continue funding passion.

The cover of the zine! In the centre is a screenshot from The Shape of Water of a woman with her hands against a tank containing a humanoid fish man. They look at each other longingly through the glass. The Title of the zine is: So you've seen The Shape of Water...A beginner's guide to monster kissing movies
screenshot from Tsui Hark's Green Snake. Two women in are sitting very close to each other in the grass, surrounded by huge flowers. One, in a pink dress, looks down, deep in thought. The other, in a teal dress, looks at her sister in concern
A screenshot from Agnieszka Smoczynska's The Lure. Three mermaids are snuggled together on a dingy grey bed beneath a disco ball (it's a weird movie). The one in the middle wears a dramatic red wig, and holds the other, younger mermaids protectively. The younger ones are suckling from the older one's breasts.
Screenshot from Jean Cocteau's Beauty and the Beast. Belle, a beautiful young woman, looks in a mirror, listening intently as the cat-like beast, in flamboyant dress and cape, holds up a key and gives her instructions on how to return to her family.
In a fit of procrastination, I did a new copy edit on this zine from last year; I forgot to share it for Valentine's Day, but if you're still looking for love, you can download my Beginner's Guide to Monster Kissing movies for PWYC on Gumroad! allisonotoole.gumroad.com/l/monster-ki...

It's this looser approach, a really nice contrast to my much tighter inking.

I unlocked something with digital painting in 2025 that really satisfies me like never before. I'd like to do some more of these in 2026. If you need some cover art hit me up.

chibi me amidst The Horrors
It's been rough getting back into the groove doing illustration while dad's situation remains unresolved, so I have to rattle my tin cup again to make sure my rent is and other expenses are covered. Every bit helps: ko-fi.com/O4O8CAE3

hey bsky folks, we're planning a trip to London and South Wales this spring, and I'd love to hear folks' recommendations for great food, museums, hikes, and more! I've never been to the UK before and I'm so excited!

i don't want to post another 'hey help me top up at the end of the month' kofi link because honestly how long can this go on? but getting back into work — my work, i.e. just drawing things — instead of packing things up or cleaning or prepping for hearings is so fucking hard right now

The previous owners of our house kind of just plonked down a shed on a patch of gravel, rather than a proper foundation, and the wood at the bottom is starting to rot, so while we will have to get rid of it eventually, for now it provides a great setting for animals doing Redwall bullshit

This article (very sharp, perfectly nails a "frustrating" trend that's been happening) got me thinking a lot about Dave Cockrum's design work. Those thoughts led me to this bit from Claremont (found on reddit) about Dave's and his compromises on this particular costume

As we barrel towards the end of the first quarter of 2026, I am available for potential art jobs. Covers, interiors, album/apparel art, cat sitting, personal commissions, etc.
I've got 11 years experience in comics, as well as character/bg design for animation.

I say this basically all the time but if your goal is to learn how actual production works you should seek out low end contract work or do modding projects. Most devs will take either far more seriously than "intern" which is worth almost nothing (maybe literally nothing) on a resume
