The disruption to the Kelana Jaya Line is the fourth it has happened within less than a span of a week, yet the public has not been given assurance on the reliability of the LRT
This is becoming 2022 all over again

Good to see that MOT has placed reviving cross-border rail services along disused railways as a priority for this year’s budget, with rehabilitation works for the railway set to begin next year:

Malaysiakini article: DBKL considering anti-homeless infrastructure: Zaliha
PARLIAMENT | The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is examining the use of infrastructure that prevents homeless people from sleeping in public spaces.
Obscenely cruel policy that’s likely conceived from an air-conditioned office far away in Putrajaya
Getting out of homelessness is extremely difficult when you don’t have a permanent address - we need more rehousing programmes rather than aesthetic fixes that solves nothing

Group discussion between Dr Afif and the RapidKL bus planning team, bus operations, and the city council
A double decker bus from 640 pulled from revenue service to perform a trial drive between Taman Medan Bus Terminal and Sri Manja Bus Stand
Dr Afif, the MLA for Taman Medan, overseeing the drive on the bus
The bus travelling down on roads less travelled by the bus
Channeling some of my passionate tweets in the past into action - proud to had been collaborating with Dr Afif, the MLA for Taman Medan, working with @myrapidkl to extend the 640 bus, connecting with PJ01 at Taman Medan Bus Terminal
This will bring residents closer to high-paying jobs in KL and PJ

The Star article
Headline: Bus operators urged to get on board with enthusiast events
Subhead: Bus fans interacting with a Rapid Bus staff member during the open day at Kompleks Rapid Bus Cheras Selatan in Seri Kembangan.
MORE community engagements and dedicated events are needed to promote the bus spotting hobby in Malaysia.
A proactive transit agency will recognise the strength that transport enthusiasts have, like bus enthus, and engage with them greatly as they are part of a larger user base of public transport users that cares deeply about its growth and engages positively with them:

A travel information poster from Rapid KL announcing free shuttle bus services for the Putrajaya MRT Line on 27 October 2025. The top section states “Perkhidmatan Bas Perantara Percuma Bagi Laluan Putrajaya 27 Oktober 2025”. Buses operate every 15–20 minutes depending on traffic. A schematic map shows ten zones along the route: Zone 1 (Kawasan Damansara, Sungai Buloh), Zone 2 (Damansara Damai to Metro Prima), Zone 3 (Kepong Baru to Jalan Ipoh), Zone 4 (Sentul Barat to Conlay), Zone 5 (Tun Razak Exchange to Kuchai Lama), Zone 6 (Salak Selatan, Sungai Besi), Zone 7 (Serdang Raya Utara to Serdang Raya Selatan), Zone 8 (UPM to Putra Permai), Zone 9 (16 Sierra, Cyberjaya Utara), Zone 10 (Cyberjaya City Centre, Putrajaya Sentral), with an express bus sector between Tun Razak Exchange to UPM -land Sungai Besi to Putrajaya Sentral. Station icons now depict connecting transport options by rail.
Bus bridging services on the Putrajaya MRT line continues, with express bus services introduced to slip sectors between Tun Razak Exchange to UPM and Sungai Besi to Putrajaya Sentral:

Kajang MRT Line: Bukit Bintang

Penutupan Sementara Beberapa Stesen Rapid KL
Temporary Closure of Selected Rapid KL Stations
Tarikh / Date: 26 Oktober 2025
• Masa / Time: 7.00 pagi - 12.00 tengah hari
Atas faktor keselamatan, beberapa stesen akan ditutup sementara pada hari ini.
For safety reasons, several stations will be temporarily closed today.
Stesen yang terlibat / Affected Stations:
Laluan Kelana Jaya Line: Ampang Park & KLCC
Laluan Putrajaya Line: Conlay, Persiaran KLCC & Ampang Park
Laluan Kajang Line: Bukit Bintang
Hate how RapidKL on Twitter calls a post “IMPORTANT NOTICE 🚨” and yet still hides info behind a damn link
Also, what do you mean the two most popular stations on the network are closed for almost HALF A DAY and announced ON THE HOUR OF THE CLOSURE?
RapidKL is taking everyone for a ridiculous ride

Press release by RapidKL on the disruption of the Putrajaya MRT line due to signalling issues, with list of alternative lines from select stations, including suggesting Persiaran KLCC MRT is accessible from KLCC LRT station
Whoever from RapidKL that wrote the press release has clearly never taken the MRT from Persiaran KLCC as no one would suggest KLCC LRT station as an alternative when it is much faster to walk to Ampang Park LRT instead:

A close up of the bus windshield, which shows what looks to be a poster indicating the bus bridging service, which could’ve been instead coded into the head sign of the buses
To further support the theory that RapidKL has no contingency of this scale, there is a poster posted on the windshield to indicate it’s head sign, when it could use the front mounted Electronic Display Sign if it had been coded in advance

A travel information poster from Rapid KL announcing free shuttle bus services for the Putrajaya MRT Line on 25 October 2025. The top section states “Perkhidmatan Bas Perantara Percuma Bagi Laluan Putrajaya 25 Oktober 2025”. Buses operate every 20–30 minutes depending on traffic. A schematic map shows ten zones along the route: Zone 1 (Kawasan Damansara, Sungai Buloh), Zone 2 (Damansara Damai to Metro Prima), Zone 3 (Kepong Baru to Jalan Ipoh), Zone 4 (Sentul Barat to Conlay), Zone 5 (Tun Razak Exchange to Kuchai Lama), Zone 6 (Salak Selatan, Sungai Besi), Zone 7 (Serdang Raya Utara to Serdang Raya Selatan), Zone 8 (UPM to Putra Permai), Zone 9 (16 Sierra, Cyberjaya Utara), Zone 10 (Cyberjaya City Centre, Putrajaya Sentral). Footer advises passengers to plan trips early and consider other transport options.
After a whole day, graphics for the bus bridging services is now out, showing 10 distinct shuttle zones along the alignment of the MRT for people to travel between
Though admittedly given the scale of the disruption, there should be express buses to skip sectors as well

It's worrying albeit impressive to steal cables from a live MRT network in Kuala Lumpur compared to from a random warehouse in the middle of nowhere in Kelantan for ECRL but worse considering that the ASEAN summit is just around the corner

There is a deeply troubling aspect to this - that someone can easily cripple the capital by sabotaging the public transport network
How invested and ready are our security services to deter such a threat from happening again?

Biggest caveat is that I am relying on vague but official sources on road closures and making judgements on which bus routes would be affected, but this will be subjected to change depending on the security situation on the ground

A detailed map of Kuala Lumpur showing unofficial alternative public transport arrangements for the ASEAN Summit 2025. Major roads like Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Ampang, and Jalan Sultan Ismail are marked in red to indicate closures. Advisory boxes suggest alternative routes using LRT, MRT, and Monorail lines. Peak-hour timings (6:00–10:00 and 16:30–20:00) and adjusted off-peak train frequencies are listed — Ampang and Sri Petaling LRT every 4 minutes, Kelana Jaya LRT every 5 minutes, KL Monorail every 8 minutes, and Kajang MRT every 9 minutes. Key dates note dry runs from 23–25 October, the summit from 26–28 October, and normal service resuming on 29 October.
With the MRT, LRT, and KLIA Express having additional services for the ASEAN Summit, travelling by public transport is the best way to visit Kuala Lumpur this week!
However, several bus services will be disrupted due to road closures, and here's a visual guide to see them all:

A group of Malaysian government officials and police officers stand together in a press event at the Parliament of Malaysia. One official holds a printed chart announcing a traffic summons reduction campaign. The Malaysian flag and the Parliament emblem are visible in the background. The image includes the Malaysia Madani logo and the slogan “Madani Bekerja” in the bottom right corner.
From Jan 1 next year, the Road Transport Department and Royal Malaysian Police will unify compounds and standardise fine discounts
Streamlining enforcement is good but continuing the policy of discounts for fines is a regressive move and defeats the purpose of a fine
