Also I started making a bluesky based app related to animals. It’s fun but not sure if i can find enough time to get it to a state that’s worth publishing. The turtle kinda resembles the slow progress made there.

Yes you can add a page to a database with a title and body (plain text). Currently Notion shortcut doesn’t support setting properties yet, but you can use Notion API in Shortcuts to do so.

Though I probably don’t qualify as fluent, articulate language user. Just trying to sell iOS shortcuts as a solution for the data entry side of the problem, they’re so integrated that you can trigger them from Siri, control center, action button, share sheet, etc.

I just made an iOS shortcut recently which takes a word, lets ChatGPT generates its meaning, pronunciation, etc and saves to Notion. Then I just look at that page from time to time and remove words I memorized. It’s new and idk how effective it is yet. iOS shortcuts are very versatile/easy to access

Thanks to @val.town so this type of small projects can be built very quickly.

Built a cipher game bao-cipher.web.val.run Just try to decode a letter substitution cipher as quick as you can. You can share the game link and compete against a friend.

Initially it’s for my kid to practice in a competition, but it’s kinda fun and now I just keep playing it.

Got the opportunity to talk w Notion's founding mobile engineering team about the nitty-gritty details on how they do mobile development.

Learned so many interesting things.

Now there is a way to publish a @notion.com database to a calendar feed: just fork www.val.town/v/bao/notion... on @val.town and configure the token/database id.
I use #notion to run a community website which has an event calendar, and allowing people to subscribe the calendar feed is super nice

I use it to learn new topics and create notes. You can type a question, then ai button -> continue to write. Similar to asking ChatGPT but better organized than chat threads, e.g. you can edit and format the answers, the pages can be organized in a database with tags & link to other pages etc
