I like books, beer and Beethoven. And wine, whiskey, Bach and numerous other composers. And jazz and rock and roll. And the Portland Trail Blazers!

100% agree with this. LED headlights are very dangerous to oncoming traffic.

Probably my favorite Miles Davis album -- certainly my favorite from his electric period. I feel like this album is highly underrated -- few people talk about it.

Wow, you missed my point. My point was that people do not help their cause by overstating/misstating their argument. OP posted that every animal is petrified of fireworks. That simply is not true. If you want to make an argument, do it well.

BTW, banning fireworks will not get rid of them.

You've overstated it. Yes, some dogs are scared of fireworks. Others are not. One of mine is. The other couldn't care less. He sleeps right through them and always has. I've had many cats over the past 40 years, and none have responded to the noise.

What are people celebrating? I know its hard to see your pup scared, but all the people celebrating aren't focusing on her. All you can do is be with her.

My daughter lives near one of the stores so I have ordered from them, had it sent to that store so I get free shipping. Then I visit there twice a year.

"No, I don't mean love, when I say patriotism. I mean fear. The fear of the other. And its expressions are political, not petical: hate, rivalry, aggression. It grows in us year by year. We've followed our road too far." -- Eatraven, in The Left Hand of Darkness, by Ursula K. Le Guin.

I really like this idea. I would further incentivize corporations to base executive salaries on the mean salaries of non-executive employees.

Why is my Classical Music Bluesky feed filled with posts that have nothing to do with Classical Music?

I bought piano concerto because it was Richter. He has become my favorite dead pianist.

So you're saying the Antichrist might be a Democrat? Suddenly, he and Jesus are on the same side? That would be sooooo cool! (And believable. After all, people forget that the Forbidden Fruit was knowledge. God wanted us to be ignorant?)

Yes, but are you reading? For me, Sibelius #5, #7, and the Violin Concerto while reading @drdavidvernon.bsky.social sun forest lake. Wonderful book and astonishingly beautiful music.

I don't think I realized how wonderful Sibelius' 4th symphony is until, while reading @drdavidvernon.bsky.social 's sun forest lake, I listened to it maybe a dozen times. Such a passionate, desolate work filled with, not loneliness, but aloneness.

I've listened to this set twice now. The performances are magnificent. I don't know what to think of #Furtwanger 's Symphony #2. He was influenced by #Bruckner but doesn't seem to have the same depth. His melodies aren't memorable. it's like he didn't have anything to say but felt like talking.

I just got this set. I've been thinking about getting it for a while. #Schubert 9 #Schumann 4, and #Haydn 88, plus Furtwangler's Symphony 2.
