Stawley Primary School Progress Update No 5. Good progress through September and into October.

Millfield School library roof nearing completion. Providing a much needed uplift to the original 1980's building, with increased thermal comfort, wonderful natural light, sensor controlled passive ventilation and no more leaks!

LED Architects have won planning permission for upgrading the Arts Building at Badminton School! The project will deliver a new insulated zinc roof and glazed canopy with large PV array and rooflights. Providing Badminton School with a unique multi-use exhibition and teaching space for fine art.

We are pleased to announce that Phase 3 of our farmhouse re-development in Somerset has obtained planning consent. In need of significant regeneration, the client will now create 3 dwellings & a new farm office. A retrofit project using fabric renewal & adaptation to save & futureproof a building.🚀

LED Architects are delighted to have achieved Full Planning Permission and Advertising Consent for the Wincanton Cinema project.

This is the full refurbishment of a former 1930’s heritage asset, set within a Conservation Area, creating a new 3 screen cinema. Due to open before Christmas.

Major refurbishment at the Main Library for Millfield School, Somerset continues at pace. The whole roof is being upgraded with new finishes, insulation and glazing. #retrofit, #reuse, #redevelop.

Progress update No2. After such beautiful weather, it’s was too windy today to erect the steel frame, will have to wait.

[2of2] areas retain the character of the original building. This is complemented by new single storey elements that are distinctly contemporary. The new farmhouse is now fossil fuel free, run on the farm’s central solar facility with all its drainage linked to a central reed bed filtration system.

Good progress at Stawley Primary School construction site. Existing prefab to be retained during construction. Works to be completed over the summer, will post updates as build continues.

Sofia's research trip to The Holburne Museum with RIBA tutor Julia. Fabulous Eric Parry garden extension is one of our favourite buildings and well worth the visit when in the South West.

An interesting article in RIBA highlighting HRB process - As Principal Designers BSR, we are one of the first practices to have successfully completed Gateway 3 for work to an existing Higher Risk Building. It was an epic process, which we are happy to share. zurl.co/VErLv

New players staircase providing direct access from the players balcony to the field of play is being craned into position today at Somerset County Cricket Club. Part of our work with Somerset, supported by the ECB to upgrade the player facilities. Great job by Principal Contractor Wrencon.

Great News the Planning Inspectorate has approved an appeal and granted planning permission for a new later living complex designed by our team in Somerset. This marks the end of a lengthy planning process and is a great outcome for the team and the client. More information to follow.  🙂

Architecture is not always very glamorous but our Healthcare Team are pleased with the completion of an important and quite complex secure compound project for one of our hospital clients. Many thanks to CGW Contractors Ltd for a smooth contract delivery.

Rethink-Redevelop-Reuse. A new planning application has been submitted to convert Wincanton Community Church into a three screen cinema. Sitting in a Conservation Area, the 1930's Cinema building will be restored to its original use. Including improved acoustics, insulation, layout, roof and façade

Two domestic projects in our office this week. Both with a focus on adaptation for Later Living. Sustainable redesign and reuse, allowing clients to extend and stay in their family homes. Our team has been focused on developing flexible layouts, which adapt to the clients different needs over time.

Our healthcare team at LED have first hand experience of working with Estate Managers to improve NHS buildings, in what is a very tough environment. In this post we consider challenges facing NHS Estates and their impact on staff, patient and healthcare outcomes.

Green light for Stawley Primary School, Somerset. The rural primary school is to be rebuilt to incorporate parts of the existing building. With a number of sustainable features to provide a healthier and more flexible learning environments with better access to outdoor spaces. Info on website soon.
