The ERA – NC alliance is a group of organizations in North Carolina that agree ratification of the ERA will improve women’s lives in North Carolina and the US. Our goal is to achieve true equality under the law for both men and women in our country.

Another notable North Carolina woman from the mountains around Asheville. She ran for office before women could vote and we’re still considered property of their husbands or fathers. #womenshistorymonth

Today, two bills were introduced in the North Carolina General (SB438 & HB500) assembly for NC to ratify the equal rights amendment. They could be the 39th state to ratify. It took NC 51 yrs to ratify the 19th amendment. It’s been 53 years since Congress voted to pass the ERA. How long??

Today we salute this “Beloved Woman” for her continued work to translate important literature from English into the endangered Cherokee language. Sadly, our country has sought to erase much of Native Americans’ culture and language. Kudos to this amazing woman!! #womenshistorymonth2025

On International Women’s day, let’s not forget the women that have gone before us, who fought for our right to be seen & have a voice in public & be able to make our own decisions. We also salute all of the women who are fighting for those exact rights today and who fear losing them.

30 years after world leaders adopted a blueprint to achieve gender equality, a new UN report says women’s & girls rights are under attack. “Instead of mainstreaming equal rights, we’re seeing the main streaming of misogyny.” Human rights include the rights to reproductive health.

Women’s rights are human rights and human rights are women’s rights. These words said by Hillary Clinton echo what fueled the civil rights battles in the 60s. Ms Simone used her art & voice to fight for those rights! Never forget how far we’ve come & how far we still must go! #womenshistory2025

Educational institutions that receive federal funding must cease DEI efforts. In NC, High Point Univ produced a list of 50+ banned words to be eliminated from university publications, including equality, white, Black and gender in course descriptions and class syllabi. Equality??? Nope!

Deb Butler has long been a champion for equal rights, so it came as no surprise to see her seek a state constitutional amendment to protect gay marriage in North Carolina. If you know her, you know she does not yield or back down on matters of equality. #ordinaryequality
