Bad news from Labour-controlled Reading, but first this has to go to the council's sub-committee, then a consultation.
As well as the usual arguments, there are complaints of a lack of funding for a disconnected cycle network in the town.

Work on major road upgrade to begin later this year Wealden District Council has transferred Β£1.1million of funding to East Sussex County Council for highways improvements focussed on the A22 around…

The question is: how much would this assist #ActiveTravel and how much is it about accommodating yet more motor traffic which impedes it?

Public reporting deters crime. We urge it for burglary, assault, fraud β€” so why not road danger?? Reporting helps tackle reckless driving and save lives. The Daily Mail mocking this as β€œvillainy” misses the point. Accountability on our roads protects everyone.

Road between Haywards Heath and Cuckfield closed for three weeks as part of speed limit reduction scheme A road between Haywards Heath and Cuckfield is closed for three weeks, according to a public notice.

West Sussex County Council @WSHighways close a country road for 3 weeks to make changes for a reduced speed limit from 60mph NSL to 40/30mph. Due to "high collision rate". Rural roads have a poor record and more need speed reduction.

Most people still don't know the new Highway Code rules - let's change that The government has just published a new Road Safety Strategy, which is great to see. But they haven't mentioned promoting the Highway Code, even though most people still aren't clear on the new rules ...

We welcome the new Road Safety Strategy. πŸ‘πŸŽ‰πŸ‘
But we need better communication and promotion of the Highway Code. Most people are ignorant of the 2022 HC updates! 😯
Email your MP & ask for a πŸ‘‰powerful public awareness campaign. Lives depend on it. 🚴
