yup, silksong became a meme because a few of the kickstarter backers assumed it would be a quick follow up. You'll notice a lot of the sales are like "why is silksong so hard?"

Does that sound like die hard fans to you?

Going through Silksong it's pretty clear it was made by a dedicated and obsessive group of guys that were so used to playing their own game they forgot what it was like to be a normal person. I'm absolutely loving it but shits crazy. It's meaner than a Dark Souls game.

so many online zoomers talking about indie games will be like "the concept of indie games was invented in 2014 when scott cawthon released five nights at freddy's, the most culturally important game ever made"

Header text: "HEY YOU! YES YOU! TAKE THIS SHIT OUT OF LINKS!"

This is followed by a couple example urls, with a red square highlighting the sections with source identifiers. The rest of the text is as follows:

Source identifiers are used to track your activity on a site. Where you came from, what device you use, and even who you talk to. Whether it's written clearly in the url or tied to a random string of characters, it's assigned to your activity.

When you send a link containing a source identifier to somebody and they click it, it signals to the website that you two are connected. And that data goes right back to the website operators, and thus their advertisers.

Whenever you select "share" or "copy link" on a social app or website, it creates a link like this. If you give even the smallest shit about online privacy, it's important to remove them. Everything after the "?" symbol can be removed without issue, especially sections starting with "si=" or "utm_source="

I saw an infographic a couple years ago about how to remove source identifiers from links and why it's important, but I can't find it again and too many people I know are sending me links with them so here's an infographic straight from the oven

simple "trick" to know things other people don't and have a much broader experience of creative work: get over the demand for mass market polish. plenty of high quality work didn't have big budget. listen to a talk with poor recording quality. read a book that needed more editing. play an ugly game.

As someone who's written Bloodshot, this sucks.

Alien Books has said that "Going forward, all scripts will undergo a more intense review by our proof readers", this is not a "proof reader" issue. It's a writer/editor problem. The sentiment was intentional by a writer and went unchecked by an editor

anytime you make a post about how people should stop using Spotify because it fucking sucks, someone pops in from from the Discover feed about how there's no alternative and ignores that you can just buy music or use another streaming service that isn't doing this shit. Anyway, stop using Spotify

Valve breaking silence on this is huge, they really dont do this. Companies, at this scale, dont -do this-.

Visa, mastercard, stripe and paypal are feeling the pressure. They are making mistakes under pressure.

Keep it up

Hey. I've written a new article.

One of the difficulties in talking about "how can we do something better" is that it means we gotta talk about what isn't going well.

I wrote this in the hopes that reading it would give you tools to write work you're proud of.

Switch 2 thoughts: the device feels much more premium than I thought, with some weirdness exceptions, everything feels like it had a super solid iteration, free Palestine, and Mario Kart World free roam is pretty fun but not as realized an experience as just doing races.
