Daniel Radcliffe killed it as Weird Al, but I think he would make an even better Chris Thile. That's the mandolin movie we need now.

Note to self: if invisibility cloaks can't be seen through, the person wearing them shouldn't be able to see through them either.

PSA: Never ask a career community college professor why they don't teach at a better school.

Thanks for the share - I've not had a chance to follow up on the haka's repercussions as my country has been too much a horse and pony show the past several months.

I teach at an #AOI, so I do not use textbooks, which means it must be publicly available. I'm especially interested in literary works from #Aotearoa that forward #Maori and #Samoan and other ethnic voices and/or treat Te Tiriti o Waitangi critically, fwiw.

#EnglishTeachers, I'm curious what poems/short stories from British colonies I might include in my #BritLit course in the fall. I structured it this spring with works about Britain, expanding into colonies, and then colonies speaking back to the empire. Would love more #PoCo #Anglophone pieces.

I was super excited to see that #TheBeths were coming back to Atlanta after just missing them last time they were through, but then I saw it was on Halloween, and I have kids who will expect to trick or treat NOT at a concert. #DadLife #AllGoodArtNowIsFromAotearoa

I don't think this reading is born of bitterness; I know some of the publication awards winners, and they deserve all the flowers! But maybe Cs disenfranchises teachers when the research orientation so strongly outweighs the teaching element.
Regardless, I had a great conference and hope to return!

What I mean by research getting priority shows up, for example, in how many research awards were announced both in general sessions and the awards ceremony, while the Nell Anne Pickett Service Award and the Outstanding Teaching awards were only presented Friday night at the awards ceremony.

It can feel frustrating how #Teaching gets less attention than #Research, which I addressed in my talk. I heard this come up in multiple ways this year, and I hope we as a professional community can think about this too in terms of access and welcome.

I'm still shocked that I got this award, but it made for an even better #4C25! I got invited to give a keynote at Teacher to Teacher this morning because of this award, and my speech seemed to go over better than I thought it might.

Darin Jensen and Brett Griffiths receiving the #4C25 #OutstandingBookAward for their book that defends "just teaching"! #TYCA25 showing up with their message that in our moment, colleagues at 4-year schools need to stand with their 2-year peers for so of our students.

Listening to the #Keynote at #4C25 and heard "It takes a long time to learn what love isn't and a long time to practice what love is."

The interconnected nature of #Reading and #Writing means we all need to become more familiar with the teaching of reading in writing studies.

In their #CorpusAnalysis, very few uses of #DevelopmemtalLiteracy exist, despite the need for more interdisciplinary work in the absence of intensive reading/writing options at most institutions.

Listening to a great session on #Reading and #Litetacy at #4C25! Fascinating analysis of "reading" and "literacy/cues" across hundreds of articles in #WritingStudies.

Anger, then, only belongs to those who are virtuous in the epideictic frame of mind.

Argument: a fascination with/focus on #EpideicticRhetoric drives the acceleration of #ClassicalChristianEducation, especially with consistent dependence on anger.

#TYCA25 opens with the usual calm and practical tone of #2YC folks: focused on teaching in so many different contexts, centering student experiences and access.

@voleuseck.bsky.social Will you be skying TYCA and CCCC? I left Twitter, but I know you were one of few more prolifically tweeting the conference than I was, and I lived by that last year when I couldn't attend!

I loved the RNF when I was dissertating! Sadly, it always conflicts with TYCA :'(

Presenting at #TYCA25, #4C25, and working the listening session for the WS-L! I'll also give a co-keynote at teacher 2 teacher, which is exciting and terrifying all at the same time!
Ultimately, I just hope the are sparkle ponies to be had.
