No one writes about Elvis any better than Robert. Elvis fans check this out. As an Elvis soundtrack apologist, this really hit with me.

Psychiatrists taking the month of August off, of course, is the premise of the 1991 comedy What About Bob, starring Richard Dreyfuss as a psychiatrist whose family vacation at the lake house on Lake Winnipesaukee is interrupted/ruined by a very neurotic patient of his named Bob (Bill Murray).

Maybe this "taking off" thing is more of an east-coast NYC thing, or a big city thing in general (here in L.A. too? dunno), but it's good to remember that, especially during really hot days of August, that a lot of the people you run into in the big cities (and maybe the suburbs and the country towns too) will probably be lacking their regular mental help. So we'll all have to remember to be a little more patient when driving across town, talking to people outside of our neighborhoods, etc.

Remember, a lot of psychiatrists take the month of August off and don't see their patients for the entire time. At least that's what happens in old movies. Expect to see a lot of mentally-ill people out in public during this hot month. Just assume everyone's a little crazy. (more: alt text).
