The only lasting resolution is a diplomatic one. This means a credible transition for Iran which includes the halt to both the nuclear and ballistic programmes, as well as an end to destabilising action in the region. Because from energy to nuclear, migration to security, Europe must be prepared for the fall-out from recent events.

Shora ye negahban literally means guardian council. Their job is to appoint the successor. Pahlavi has his supporters inside and outside the country (not my choice by a mile) but that regime is not going down without a fight and dragging down everyone in the region with it, my people included.

My parents and grandmother (my grandma’s a Cdn dual citizen), my in laws and our extended families live in Iran. Honestly, I don’t know if there is to be a coup or if the IRGC will just use all its military options and try to find a replacement for now. We have to see how the air strikes continue.
