23.05.2025 17:03 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0It should be open access. It doesn’t appear to be yet, but if anyone is curious to give it a read and can’t get hold of it, get in touch and I’ll send it through.

My article, “Introductory Matters: Tracing the Aims of Proverbs 1:1–7 through the Book’s First Collection,” published in SJT, is now up under FirstView

The article is a minor rework of a paper I gave last year at the @abdndivinity.bsky.social PGR Symposium
This sounds really interesting

20.01.2025 13:32 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Unfortunately it seems @bsky.app has exploded in popularity but without keeping up with the necessary security checks to make it a safe platform. It isn’t going to last if these sorts of things are just left unchecked like this

Pity Ryan O’Dowd’s commentary in the SGBC series didn’t get a mention

Coming soon (hopefully) to a Scottish Journal of Theology near you.
It isn't actually a paid survey. There was some miscommunication on that front. I went through the whole thing only to be told that that information wasn't supposed to be there and that I won't actually be getting paid. I see they've now updated the page to correct that.
13.12.2024 11:26 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0The article is a thorough revision of the paper I gave at Trinity College Bristol in June last year at our PGR Conference. Since then a lot of rethinking, rewriting, more rethinking, and more rewriting has brought it to where it is now—almost a year and a half in the making.
04.12.2024 05:41 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Proofs are in for my forthcoming article in Biblical Interpretation, “Forgetting the Covenant of Her God: Ethnicity, Social Memory, and the Covenant in Proverbs 2:17.” I’m really happy with how this article turned out and really excited to see it out in the world.

A little bit of crowd sourcing can go a long way! Do share our profile with those in your networks who you think might be interested the Divine work we do here in Aberdeen!
19.11.2024 09:55 — 👍 51 🔁 42 💬 3 📌 3Schniedewind has a discussion of the place of the author in ancient texts and whether that was actually a real concern for the ancient readers of the OT literature. He suggests it really wasn’t, but I think many conservative Evangelicals would answer differently.

I really wanted Threads to be the place. It’s got a really nice look and feel and this place seems oddly exclusive with the whole invite code thing. But it’s clear that it hasn’t worked out that way.

24.11.2023 10:20 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0If it’s within your means I’d recommend doing both. Buying it gives an injection into the artist’s earnings, but they can continue earning from streams.

10.11.2023 15:13 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Crutch word at the moment: “particular.” Given what I’m working on, this is not without good reason, but now that I’ve noticed it, I’m painfully aware every time my fingers find those letters on the keyboard.
