yep! it also gets free retreat so you can switch out of it any time, and because it only gives a single prize card in a format where most relevant attackers give up two of your opponent's six prize cards, losing one and going down to an odd number doesn't actually affect the maths needed to win

nobody wants their cool collectable item to be banned so now that every card is a masterball holo or illustration rare or golden mega rare or whatever the fuck there's no chances of bans happening. because banning a card upsets the "investors" so the people actually playing have to deal with it :(

anyway my point is the push to have pokemon be a collector item first and a game second that started in SWSH and became a huge fucking problem during SV has kind of ruined the game in a way that i don't think can really be fixed, actually

like item lock is fine. i'm literally the worlds biggest XY enjoyer as someone who played a lot back then. but budew is just not a good way of doing that given how little counterplay you're left with and the zero repurcussions to playing it that makes it basically free. its kind of just miserable :(

it just pisses me off a lot that any criticism of budew is met with either "just adjust your deck lol" which is bad advice when the card pool is just not built to deal with item lock being that accessible. or "go play a different game" which! i like pokemon!! i want to play pokemon!!!
