The willingness to pursue military action that leaves hundreds of children dead, underlines why the world increasingly views the actions of Israel and the US as such a threat to international peace and security.

01.03.2026 11:58 — 👍 21 🔁 10 💬 2 📌 0A dark blue UK Government announcement dated 28 February 2026. The UK Government crest appears at the top left. Large bold text in white and red reads “REGISTER YOUR PRESENCE.” Below, smaller text says British nationals in Bahrain, Israel, Palestine, Qatar and the UAE should register to receive FCDO updates. A red banner at the bottom says “Register on GOV.UK.”
If you are a British national in Bahrain, Israel, Palestine, Qatar or the UAE, please register your presence to receive direct FCDO updates on the situation in the Middle East.
You should continue to follow FCDO travel advice and the advice of the local authorities.
The US and Israel's illegal and unprovoked assault on Iran, even amid negotiations, risks making the world an even more dangerous place.
Our government should loudly condemn this flagrant violation of international law, which could have catastrophic consequences for humanity.
A group of people gather under a blue canopy branded “Brixton Safe” and “Brixton Business Improvement District.” A man in the foreground speaks to the group, gesturing with his hands, while police officers, local officials, and community members listen. Behind them are shopfronts, including signs for “Rebel Rebel” and “Bar 78,” indicating a busy Brixton street setting.
This week, I visited Brixton Safe Hub with the Minister for Policing.
Running on Thurs, Fri and Sat evenings, this is a new safe space in Windrush Square where anyone can go if they are feeling unsafe.
A great initiative that will help make our community safer and deter crime.
Three people stand outside a building at night, dressed in winter coats and scarves. One person holds a flyer that reads “Battersea Park – We’re here to help – Get in touch.” Warm light from the building entrance illuminates the group, and the background features glass panels and a textured wall.
Good to be out on the doorstep with our Clapham Park Labour council candidates talking to residents about the issues that matter to them.

The decision to freeze the student loan repayment threshold is a one-sided breach of contractual terms.
Graduates shouldn't face retrospective changes to their loan terms.
Ultimately, tuition fees should be scrapped and student debts written off.
Today has to be a wake-up call.
We cannot out-Reform Reform. We should never have tried.
We must stand up for working people with clear policies that tackle inequality, protect communities and put peace, justice and welfare at the heart of all we do.
Progressive voters are deserting in droves because this Labour government isn't showing commitment to the kind of popular, progressive policy changes they voted for.
We are losing more votes to the Greens than to Reform.
Being pushed to third in Gorton & Denton, one of our safest seats, is an indictment of the government’s current approach.
Unless we get back to core Labour values, we are heading for disaster.
A red promotional poster titled “Clapham & Brixton Hill Constituency Survey.” It features bold white and yellow text, with illustrations of a hand holding a pen and a megaphone. The poster states the survey is open until 27 March and invites residents to take a short survey about local issues. A shortened survey link is displayed. At the bottom, the name “Bell Ribeiro‑Addy” appears with a rose symbol and the tagline “A strong voice for Clapham & Brixton Hill.”
I’m launching a short survey today for Clapham & Brixton Hill constituents 📝
This is your chance to tell me what matters most to you locally, shaping my work in Parliament 🗣️
It should only take 5-10 minutes ⏱️
Open until 27 March: bit.ly/CBHSurvey2026

Maternal death rates are 20% higher than in 2009-11.
The findings of this investigation remind us that maternity care is not working for women, babies, families, or staff.
These problems are too familiar. We now need urgent action to address them.
Four people, including the MPs Diane Abbott and Bell Ribeiro-Addy, stand together in a formal office setting, all wearing ID badges. They are smiling and dressed in professional clothing, with a framed abstract painting on the wall behind them. A blue chair sits in the foreground and a recycling bin is visible to the right.
It was a privilege to meet Amina Aliyu Adamu and Aishatu Suleiman Jahun, two women’s rights leaders from Nigeria, in Parliament on Monday.
Great to hear more about the work they are doing to support women and girls to lead change in their own communities and confront gender inequality.
The government shouldn’t be challenging the High Court's ruling on its Palestine Action ban.
It should be acting to prevent genocide: stopping arms sales, ending military collaboration, and imposing sanctions on Israel.
Four people stand indoors in front of a Labour Party backdrop featuring a large red rose emblem. One woman in a red blazer holds a certificate that reads “Labour Gorton & Denton – Dawn Butler MP, Member of Parliament for Brent Central.” The group is smiling and posing for a photo at what appears to be a Labour Party event.
Phonebanking at Labour HQ this morning to help get out the vote in Gorton and Denton today.
Polls are open until 10pm tonight.
We know it's going to be incredibly close. Make sure you get out and vote.
Student loans now comes with the kind of terms you’d expect from a loan shark.
It's not a graduate tax. It's not fair.
We need a more equitable approach to higher education funding.
Scrap tuition fees and fund higher education through general taxation.
Last night, I voted to end the two-child benefit cap, a move which will lift hundreds of thousands of children out of poverty over the coming years.
Reform and the Tories would push these same kids back into hardship by restoring this cap.
Selling slave shackles re-enacts the history of enslavement, profiting from something used to inflict pain and oppression.
These objects should be understood in their true context and regarded with horror, not fetishised by sick collectors.
This skull, taken from a six‑year‑old child, was recently listed for sale online.
It is just one of many examples of the booming, unregulated trade in human remains.
We urgently need a new law to ban this.
Genocide apologists have consistently tried to discredit official casualty figures coming out of Gaza.
This latest Lancet study finds that the Palestinian Health Ministry figures likely undercount the death toll by 40%. Horrific.
The closure of the Sickle Cell Day Unit at the Royal London Hospital will leave sickle cell patients waiting in pain for longer.
This scheme should be reinstated as a matter of urgency, with more emergency units rolled out across London.
Bell Ribeiro-Addy MP stands at the front of a school assembly hall addressing a group of students seated in rows. Several students raise their hands to ask questions. A large projection screen hangs behind the speaker, and a staff member stands to the side, arms folded, observing.
It was a pleasure to visit Sixth Form politics students at Harris Clapham Academy recently.
Some of the best questions I get asked as a Member of Parliament come from my younger constituents.
This visit didn’t disappoint with a lively exchange about recent scandals and a range of policy areas!
Bell Ribeiro-Addy MP and Diane Abbott MP pictured with Jesse Jackson indoors in a formal setting. Jackson wears a suit and tie, flanked by Bell and Diane, also dressed in professional attire. They are posing closely in front of ornate walls and decorative architectural details.
Saddened by the passing of Jesse Jackson, a titan of the civil rights movement.
I first met him as a student activist and was privileged to hear him speak on his frequent UK visits.
He dedicated his life to the fight for racial equality, inspiring millions. Rest in power.
Illustration on a purple background showing a wooden cross draped with a purple cloth, two lit candles on either side, and a bowl of ashes in front. The text “Ash Wednesday” appears at the top.
Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent: a 40-day season of prayer, fasting and charity.
Lent is an important time for reflection, renewal and resisting temptation...
Wishing the best to everyone giving or taking something up this year.
May this season bring you deeper faith, peace and blessings.
A yellow poster-style graphic showing a paper shredder destroying a document titled “Trade Union Act 2016.” Above the shredder, bold text reads “Tory anti‑union laws: in the shredder.” Below it, additional text says “Now let’s finish the job, and deliver the New Deal in full.” A small line at the bottom states it is promoted by National TULO.
Today is a good day for workers' rights, with Tory anti-trade union laws going in the shredder.
The Employment Rights Act is making it easier for workers to fight for better pay and conditions.
Let's work to deliver the New Deal for Working People in full.
Bell Ribeiro-Addy MP speaks at a community event in a brightly decorated room with yellow and teal walls. Behind her, several panelists sit on green chairs, including a man holding a hand drum. Posters on the wall include one that reads, “The master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house.” Audience members sit in rows facing the speakers.
Great to join Operation Black Vote at the Advocacy Academy for the launch of Brixton’s Black People’s Assembly.
An important community initiative bringing people together to share ideas, build solidarity and drive action to dismantle racism and tackle inequality.
Many of the human remains being sold online come from exploited communities and historical contexts marked by colonial violence.
These were real people who are now being denied dignity even in death.
We need to ban this.
A human skull sits on a wooden surface with a price tag marked with pound signs (£££) hanging from it. Bold text around the skull reads: “BAN THE SALE OF HUMAN REMAINS. SIGN THE PETITION!” The words “SALE,” “HUMAN REMAINS,” and “PETITION!” are highlighted in red.
I recently introduced a new bill to Parliament aiming to ban the sale of human remains.
I was glad see it pass its first hurdle unopposed.
Please sign and share this petition to keep up the pressure for a ban ⬇️

Lovely to have the sun out briefly for this weekend's doorknocking sessions with Acre Lane and Rush Common members 🌞
Great to share news that Brixton is getting more neighbourhood police and to hear directly from residents about the issues that matter to them.
In this week's LGBT+ History Month debate, I asked the government a simple question: when are we getting a ban on conversion practices?
Pleased to hear the government recommit to this but every day of delay leaves more LGBT+ people subjected to this abuse.
