For those not paying attention, the Univ of California has in the last month sent letters to faculty saying they cannot earn money outside their job; that social media posts will be reviewed and linked to promotions; and that faculty allegiance to UC will be reviewed by a non-local committee.

It's my experience (from 25 yrs of teaching) that "learning management" tools like Canvas do nothing to facilitate student learning & make my job MORE, not less, time consuming.
