My favorite thing about Baltimore is that you always can just go up to a complete stranger and talk to them. I’ve lived in so many different places and this is the only place that’s like pretty universal.

Did it once again 🙈 happened to be doing research on the decolonization of tattooing and folk Vietnamese lore at the same time which felt a bit like another ancestral push 🥰

As you read this, take as many deep breaths as you need, while taking in the abundance of Real research that exists. A 🧵 copy and pasted directly from my new book We Are F**king Machines: Why We Are Like This and What We Can Do About It.

Safety, survival, selfhood are X #community. We're taken care of if take care of our own.
We must intentionally build community-open our spaces, share in #creativity, remind each other of who we are, share in #joy which is so hard to find.
This too is #resistance 2/ #music #resist #action
#mutualaid

#Baltimore weekly
#jamsession Especially in this new regime/new world that requires our bravery, remember:
It's not "at the end of the day all l've got is me" it's "to get through these days, we must rely on each other" 1/ #survivorship #community #music #safespace

Rather does the story lay hidden in the first broad cast, Laden with potential,
excitement, musings of what the days catch will be,
As it catches sunrise
before hitting water
To know my story, I must first unravel, Following tangents I am a work in progress.
My story is not yet done.
I must first unroll,
Casting myself wide and unabridged, dancing in air and water,
As I collect sunrises,
Catching fish.

To clarify: the goal (collective liberation) must be organized but—
Learned helplessness is a tool of the master to keep us from dismantling the house.

When overwhelmed by the oppressor, zooming out and looking around is liberating. We have so much power

Just a generalization

*Reminder: not all action has to be and actually, is organized or lofty.*

Action also happens *organically and within simplicity*. Mutual aid isn’t just weekends and narcan distribution it’s asking your neighbor what they need, it’s giving out the starter vegetables you have to thin out anyways
