Hey, I do! Lots of ‘not great’ ones out there that delegitimize the practice. But when you find a really great one (I have) you see the immense value-which I think is essential in today’s “all data all the time” world. I just say let’s really mine depths, then quant it. So deeper in deeper out.

A skilled moderator … with a handful of focus groups in each key geo … can understand and tease out core insights / deeper trends that are representative and then also inform a more effective quant survey. Just my pet peeve … been screaming to Dems to do deeper insight mining for 9 years. 😉

Quantitative surveys are literally meaningless unless you get into people’s heads and understand the why first … which then INFORMS a useful survey.

QUALITATIVE RESEARCH. Good insight mining, getting in people’s heads … the “Why”. That’s what is needed way above simple polling.
