A Bunya Pine situated in Cook Park, Orange NSW. Its imposing magnificence caught my eye. Native to Queensland, the trees are important to Aboriginal Australians.

A Whitefaced Heron with ruffled feathers stands on a pylon in lightly rippling brown water. Description continued... In the last couple of days of 2025 I saw some beautiful birds... I was lucky to be looking in the right direction to see an Azure Kingfisher perched briefly on a branch before flying off upstream. I managed to get the binoculars on a finch in a thicket of ferns by the same stream. It had distinctive black goggles and was a new bird for me... a Beautiful Firetail! I saw a group of Variegated Fairywrens in a favourite spot flitting about in the afternoon sunshine. The first time in several years I had seen them there.

I read 23 books of a target of 24 in 2025. I was short of time to go to the library and 6 were rereads of books from my bookshelf. I bought 3 new books.

This year I plan to read every day. My target is 30 books but I hope to read more.
