Here is a fun look at my Daggerheart notes from our last session. Shout out to @slyflourish.com for the Lazy GM prep outline and to @legendkeeper.com for their excellent timeline feature!

BTW: this worked super duper well. An adversary attacking a PC that was BURNING had Advantage, an additional 1d4 damage and the ability to roll their damage die twice and take the higher result.

It turned an otherwise straight forward combat into a chess match.

The Unseen Seals: Act 2 - Session 20: The Festival of Heroes. Fresh off of robbing an adventure store on a morning set to honor them for saving the city, our heroes find themselves in the middle of a holiday, but, the mysterious Ashen Sparks are hot on their heels looking for the Ember of Ignisar!

Feature: Strike of the Zealot (Passive) - Attacks made at targets that are Burning are made with Advantage.

Feature: Kindle the Faithful (Passive) - When an ally within Close Range of a Flameshaper deals damage to a target that is Burning, they may roll their damage die twice and take the higher of the two rolls.

Feature: Blazing Arcs (Action): A Pyromancer may mark a Stress to choose a spot within Far Range. They launch a magical orb that explodes and hits any creatures within Very Close Range of the target spot.

Feature: Lingering Flame (Passive): Any creature damaged by a Pyromancer obtains the Burning effect. Additionally, they may not move unless they make an Agility Roll (15). The Burning effect can be ended by making a Finesse Roll (15) to smother the flames out.

Working on a line of Daggerheart Adversaries based on giving players the "Burning" condition.

When @darringtonpress.bsky.social released the Fellmounted Shadow King for Daggerheart, I loved the idea, but, wanted to put my own spin on it to make them truly terrifying and threatening. I also wanted to add a way for it to not have to be mounted... so... I did:

Agreed! Like anything, it’s a muscle that needs to be exercised, but, learning how to use a failure or a roll with Fear to do the GM move in the moment to make the story interesting vs banking the Fear for “later” is work worth doing and will make your game far more exciting.

There's just so much good useable stuff. I used 4 Environments in yesterday's session, & I immediately found a use for a Halloween Adversary he just released.

Here it is! A T3 Environment that is generic enough to paste over (under?) any shop in your game that tries to answer the question: "How DO people steal stuff in a world full of magic?" and the answer is: "They don't."

My next Daggerheart project is a generic Environment template that you can throw over any mid to high end shop that gives you options to help dissuade your PCs from breaking the law and trying to commit grand larceny.
