We are entering the 30s with my quiz series, and after many weeks with an unreasonably large number of nominees, we are suddenly back in single digits.

π"Being nasty doesn't require intellect; any moron can be abusive. The distinguishing factor of great wit is to be nasty with style."
Happy 100th, Kenneth Williams!
Can my own collection of physical media compete with the Criterion Closet?
I say it does. After all, does the Criterion Closet have both Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter AND Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies? I doubt it.

British television brought back Mock the Week just in time.
I already can't wait for this weekend's episode.
Seen only three so far, as Marty Supreme and Blue Moon will get their theatrical releases in the next few weeks.
As for the other three:
1. DiCaprio
2. Moura
3. Jordan
All three of them would be excellent winners.
Bonus:
Adonis Tanta in Dracula (the Radu Jude one)
Still hoping If I Had Legs will get a theatrical release here, so I will sit that one out for now.
As for the other four:
1. Buckley
2. Hudson
3. Reinsve
4. Stone
As I am missing one, I get two bonus mentions, right?
Leonie Benesch in Late Shift
Chase Infiniti
And we have reached the end of the 40s. The series is approaching the home stretch now, and with it the odd early years of the Academy.

Someone is entering his modern era. When did you start watching releases from the 2020s?

Humpty Dumpty, a unicorn, the Big Bad Wolf, and gay Hitler.
Somehow Snatch Game characters have gotten a little bit out of hand.
I just find it deeply silly to go with the narrative that the guy who plays Shakespeare in a movie about Shakespeare is a supporting actor.
(Also, I honestly believe it bit him in the back, because I think he might have had a better shot with a lead actor campaign.)
Why would you have nominated Mescal in Supporting?

1. Lindo
2. Del Toro
3. Penn
4. Elordi
5. Skarsgard (he is great, but we do not endorse category fraud here)
Bonus:
Adonis Tanta in Kontinental '25
Two more reasonable bonus picks, from films that were on their radar:
RobΓ©rio DiΓ³genes in The Secret Agent
Aidan Delbis in Bugonia
It's time for 1941 - so the years of nearly indistinguishable war movies swamping my quiz series is pretty much over.
So no more excuses for low scorers!
www.sporcle.com/games/MrWhip...
1. One Battle After Another
...
...
...
2. Dunno... maybe Hamnet?
3. Or maybe Bugonia?
4. The one marred by wall-to-wall narration
5. The other one.
Can't remember the last time this category was so lopsided.
After all those 2025 have all been taken care of, quiz-wise, it's time to dip back again into the 1940s.

I simply refuse to accept that these songs are as old now as Stairway to Heaven was when they came out.

I was listening to a classic rock radio station today, and between TNT by AC/DC and Sympathy for the Devil by the Stones, they played All the Small Things by Blink 182 and Along Comes Mary by the Bloodhound Gang.
On, I repeat, a classic rock station.
It made me feel so old.
For these things, you might use a candlestick in the library, a lead pipe in the kitchen, a dagger in the ballroom and a wrench in the billiard room.
So it's innocuous uses of Cluedo murder weapons in Cluedo rooms.
As I said: very silly, but wonderful.
What connects these four things: Reading in the Dark; Plumbing under the sink; Staging Duncan's death on the dance floor; Tightening a bolt on the billiard table
Just when I thought I couldn't love this show more than I already do, they open their series finale with this incredibly silly question.
Never change, Only Connect.
I went to a costume party dressed as a ticket to the Melania movie but nobody's buyin it

And that's a quiz in every series for this year's batch of Oscar nominees.
And it will be back to the 40s next week.

To stay on brand for once:
Margit Carstensen as Agnes Shakespeare in Hamnet
Irm Hermann as Linda in If I Had Legs I'd Kick You
Brigitte Mira as Claire Sardina in Song Sung Blue
Eva Mattes as Nora Borg in Sentimental Value
Hanna Schygulla as Michelle Fuller in Bugonia
My regular quiz series will return next week. This week, I still have to do some housekeeping after last week's nominations.

I don't even remember the last time I have seen so much snow. At least 30 cm overnight.

Making new entries to my Oscar quiz series, one day at a time.
Here is the Screenplay quiz.

Usually, the Academy nominates my least favorite films from the short film shortlists, but for Live Action Short film, they nominated my #1, 2, 3, 4, and 8 this year.
I am impressed they suddenly found taste.

Hooray for a new batch of Oscar nominees!
