So if I said to you and several others "hey, draw this. You'll get nothing in return but at least you'll gain experience and have fun while doing so!" that wouldn't be you being taken advantage of?

Also, I don't see how saying "nobody's being forced to do it!" has any relevance at all here

I also just don't see why people who start these "draw this in your style" challenges don't just commission artists other than the fact that doing this means they can get art done for free

People get nothing out of taking part in these challenges. It's just the guy who uses his platform to get free art from hopefuls

I've heard this "it's a challenge" excuse all the time and I just don't see it. Think about it, what even is the challenge? Draw my character and I *might* share it with my own followers. And who does it benefit? The artist who people may or may not discover through this challenge?

The reality of these "draw this in your style" posts is that they only promote the creator of those posts and the characters people end up drawing, not the artists who take part.

Just because people decide to do it, doesn't make it okay. When people ask for free art for exposure, people decide to do it for fun plus a need for exposure and the problem is they get taken advantage of for free art and free marketing.
