I don't think I've tried the chocolate / cocoa one but I've had a couple of boxes of the cinnamon-flavoured one and quite liked it.

I wonder which aspect resulted in the caution. Would it have been OK if it have been a lorry or a car? Or if the van was only half-full? Or if they were instead herons or pelicans? Or would it have been alright if he hadn't been local?

Even if it worked, what would stop Trump from going back to his current position once the World Cup had concluded.

This the new Jake Thackray CD I mentioned on @backlisted.bsky.social. More than two hours of previously unreleased material which offers proof of his genius as a writer and live performer. youtu.be/FRlGoNu4eRA?...

Personnel aside, the JAMs were quite a different proposition to The KLF, all the tracks with Bill on vocals gives them a very different vibe. But I don't know where you draw these kind of lines. I mean, is Rain Tree Crow a different band to Japan?

Hi Rich, can you help me out? What, for the purposes of the various debut albums votes, is the situation with the KLF? Is 1989's 'The What Time is Love Story?' their debut album, even though they only provide two tracks on it, or is it 1990's 'Chill Out'? Or...? Cheers. #5DebutAlbums9094

In that particular context, I'd say mistaking Terence Brady for Donal Donnelly is probably the winner.

I think you're right that that was the norm but I've just come across this in the Manchester Evening News (24/10/1956) which suggests that most Christmas Day programming will be tele-recorded.

I think a lot of the misinformation is down, unwittingly, to TV Times which listed Our Dora for four weeks - presumably just the result of the lead-time required for its production.

Yes, Rediffusion brought Fan Fever forward by half-an-hour which allowed ATV and Granada to show it too - originally it wasn't in their schedules. A-R filled the new gap in their evening by showing a play from the Celebrity Theatre series (aka Celebrity Playhouse, a U.S. series of half-hour dramas).

Well yes, I guess my reply really was to Eddie, but I didn't want to cut off part of the thread.

05.01.2026 17:40 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Ah but I'd argue that that originated on film as it was made by High Definition Films at Highbury, it wasn't a standard ATV studio production telerecorded in the more conventional way.

05.01.2026 17:25 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Around this time, I'm not sure how much time-shifting there was between the regions (only three of them at this point, don't forget).

That would be quite an interesting thing to research: excluding series originated on film, what were the first programmes to be split-networked by the ITV companies?

05.01.2026 17:14 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

If it was, it's too early for VT so I wonder whether it was telerecorded in advance or performed live on the day.

The Daily Mirror has a synopsis for 11 December: "[Ellie] sets out to try to persuade brother-in-law Charlie Hackett to buy a new dining table... Complications arise when, after getting rid of the old table, it turns up in the house again."

Which doesn't sound a bit like Colin's episode.

A clipping from TV Times listing MY WIFE'S SISTER at 9pm. The text says: "starring Eleanor Summerfield in Granada's light, bright comedy series with Helen Christie and Martin Wyldeck. Written by Reuben Ship. Directed by Henry Kaplan. A Granada TV Network Production."

Unfortunately not. As with many Granada sitcoms, particularly in their earliest years, there's no episode-specific info in TV Times at all. The only thing that sometimes changed from week-to-week was the name of the director and the exact wording of the description of the series itself.

05.01.2026 16:39 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Given Colin's description, I find it odd that the episode to which he's linked on IMDb was shown on 11 December rather than the one on Christmas Day itself, or even 18 December. Also he says he was the biggest and yet on IMDb he's down as the middle child.

I wonder how those connections were made.
