NTSB is the last exemplar of independent professionalism in federal government, because we used to think stopping plane crashes was a goal beyond partisanship

The Discourse has become sort of numb to the fact that the richest guy on earth and owner of a major social media platform just routinely spits out the kind of nakedly white supremacist shit that until a decade ago you rarely saw outside of places like Stormfront.

We're in uncharted territory- if WTI crude holds these gains tomorrow- the current rise of 29.9% or $27.16/bbl would be its largest single day price jump- in both percent and amount- ever. Ever. EVER.

Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio meets with Secretary Rubio

Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio meets with Secretary Rubio

Enrique Tarrio and other Proud Boys were convicted of seditious conspiracy. Trump pardoned them.

Tarrio and his men planned the storming of the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Tarrio even claimed credit for it, messaging others: “Make no mistake…We did this…”

Now he’s meeting with Sec. Rubio.

DC folks actually sort of need to demand that heads roll over this. It’s a real problem if law enforcement in the capital is so pathetic, weak, and supine that their instinct is to act as stormtroopers for illicit federal power grabs.

For Rubio, who is widely viewed as Vance’s chief rival for the 2028 nomination, a prolonged conflict threatens to jeopardize the goodwill he’s accumulated from overseeing a string of successful gambits abroad. He seemed to step in it just days into the war, prompting swift backlash when he suggested Israel led the US into striking Iran. He walked back those comments the next day, after Trump publicly disagreed.

“This is the precarious nature of this decision in particular,” said one former Trump administration official. “It could end up haunting the folks who have ambitions and want to see beyond this particular administration.”

The president’s team is juggling pressing challenges on several fronts, even as Trump has spent recent days touting the operation as a resounding military triumph.

At the State Department, Rubio is overseeing a belated effort to evacuate thousands of Americans stranded in the Middle East and under threat. Inside a Pentagon run by Pete Hegseth, there is anxiety about the extent of the nation’s weapons stockpiles and the war’s open-ended timeline.

This weird story, which doesn't seem to know whether it wants to be a 2028 story or a real record of reluctance from JD, Marco, and Susie, suggests that like JD, Marco was also hesitant abt Operation Epstein Fury.

I feel like it should be bigger news that Trump is now openly considering a military draft. Young men haven't been called up for a draft since 1972. Not during the Gulf War. Not during Iraq or Afghanistan. He received five draft deferments but is now open to drafting your kids.
