Tropical Storm #Juliette is weakening after reaching its peak intensity earlier today. Dry air and cooler waters will gradually weaken the storm as it passes west of the #BajaCalifornia peninsula.

Tropical Storm #Fernand may briefly restrengthen overnight as it moves over an eddy of warm water. The storm will begin to weaken again on Wednesday and will become post-tropical by Thursday.

Recent aircraft reconnaissance data indicates that #Invest99L still has not developed a closed circulation. The tropical wave will bring heavy rain and gusty winds to the #WindwardIslands over the next couple of days before dissipating over the #Caribbean Sea later this week.

The Seven-Day Graphical Tropical Weather Outlook from the National Hurricane Center, which depicts Hurricane Erin off the U.S. East Coast and three disturbances—Invest 90L near the Leeward Islands, Invest 99L over the central tropical Atlantic, and a weak area of low pressure over the central subtropical Atlantic. Of the three disturbances, Invest 90L is the likeliest to become at tropical cyclone within the next two to five days as it turns northward toward Bermuda.

🌊Storm surge flooding and tropical storm conditions are expected in the North Carolina Outer Banks beginning later today (Aug. 20). The storm surge will be accompanied by large waves, leading to significant beach erosion and over wash, making some roads impassible.

Land interaction will weaken the storm considerably before it crosses the Taiwan Strait and makes landfall along the southeastern coast of China on Thursday morning.

The Seven-Day Graphical Tropical Weather Outlook from the National Hurricane Center, which depicts Tropical Depression Iona well to southwest of Hawaii, Hurricane Gil to the southeast of the Baja California Peninsula, and two areas of interest to the southwest of Mexico.
The #EPAC will remain active into the upcoming week, as a disturbance behind Hurricane #Gil is likely to become a tropical cyclone later this weekend or early next week and a second disturbance is expected to develop later in the week.
