I arranged for this fixture to be added to the Official Website some time ago. It is in "Fixtures - Past Season- 1897/98"

"Thomson" is Robert R Thomson who signed from Hamilton on 07/04/1898. "Dunleavy" is Pat Donlevy who made 1 1st team appearance for Celtic in 1898. "Curley" is Michael Curley who signed for Celtic on 27/04/1898.

"McKay" is Pat McKay who signed for Celtic on 24/04/1898. "McCafferty" is Michael McCafferty who signed for Celtic but date not known. It is likely that the keeper was Alex King who was an outfield player but had played in goal before,

I have a report from the Herald

I have it listed but will need to check my spreadsheets for more info. I think it was one of those games that might have been considered as a Celtic 2nd string line up. Where is the report from that is included here and I will see if I have the same one

I think it would happen only very occasionally as the Reserve team would cater for that. However of course, it would include young players who would go on to be 1st teamers

I've not noticed that before

Around this time, there are other matches where Celtic are noted as playing friendly games but the line-up can be regarded as a reserve team. An example is the following week v Renton at Kirkintilloch

Just to add, I had the known detail listed on the Official website under "Past Seasons" which does have the full QP team & scorers

Very little detail on this match other than scorers & some player names although it is noted that the McCreadie brothers of Rangers played for Celtic. Herald report here

Sorry, I’m on holiday for a few days so not able to check my records

Celtic started this match with only 9 players with the other 2 players appearing soon after the start. I have 2 reports, one of which gives the scorer of 3 goals and the other report names the full team. I am still looking for the other 2 scorers.

I'm sure AI could come up with something 😀

Played for Celtic in a Benefit Match v Dundee on 28/08/1901 and signed for Celtic on 29/08/1901 from Ayr FC on 29/08/1901.
