The president is about to start a war for no real reason. All of the things he has blamed on the country he’s targeting — fentanyl distribution, “emptying the asylums” and sending patients to the U.S., alignment with Tren de Aragua— are provably, obviously false.

Lots of people are going to die.

It’s just the President announcing an act of war. Not really worth much discussion, apparently.

This seems like the kind of declaration by a U.S. president that should be mentioned *somewhere* on the front page of CNN or the NY Times, but the fact that it isn't (as of right now) tells us so much both about how this president is covered and the credibility of the U.S. government.

Stephen Miller’s ancestors were Jewish refugees from the pogroms in czarist Russia. They came to the U.S. in the early twentieth century, even as racists said this same stuff about them.

Also a category that includes his mother, paternal grandparents, and two of his three wives. But of course that's different, because neither he nor de facto President Miller actually care about immigration as such. They care about racism, and it's a farce to concede the pretense it's anything else.

Or the Trump prosecution, as a RICO case that could complete before Nov 2024.

I don’t think the Young Thug case should be held up as an example of the way to run a prosecution.
One of the most expensive trials in state history, and mostly ended in plea bargains for time served plus probation.
It generated press for Willis, though, so I guess it depends on what the goal was.

No one shld lose sight of the fact that the Guard was only in DC as part of an extended political messaging stunt. The shooter is guilty for the attacks/carnage. Donald Trump is responsible for them. This is the collateral damage of Trump abusing his powers as President.

Once you roll over and let POTUS usurp all of the powers of Congress, most of the traditional parts of the job go away. His main role seems to be to alternate between saying Democrats hate America, and claiming he doesn’t know anything about what is going on in the country. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Did the governor make sure the families had been notified of the deaths before he made the first announcement? Either option is horrifying.

Yeah, and it’s not the first story I’ve heard like this. The houses in our neighborhood were built with oil heat. Ours was converted to gas before we moved in. I read one of these stories and made sure the inlet was properly capped. Because 😱

This is spot-on.

The UVA "deal" might be the worst/most dangerous (so far). With the help of UVA's leadership, Trump coerced a leading U.S. university to foreswear all efforts (including 100% lawful measures) to achieve diversity.
