they both just stare at each other for a moment before stede starts cheering and celebrating. they dont get much done after because, for the rest of the day, stede will randomly start giggling - at the memory, yes, but also because hes so proud and overjoyed that he has to let it out somehow.

stede gets frustrated cuz hes pretty good at sneaking up on the *fish*. buttons launches into a monologue abt how no one has had the privilege of sneaking up on him in decades, ending with "also yer loud and not good at it"

this all happens while buttons is still in the tree btw

stede keeps trying to sneakily spray him with bug repellent but every time he reaches for it, buttons is suddenly comically far away

can. can i suggest izzy? stede tried to find literally anybody else but everyone kept telling him that izzy is the way to go. and last time he was stabbed by izzy, he did make it rather quick (minus the whole being-stuck-there thing). izzy just wants another go at stabbing him.

and stede, who isnt used to any kind of physical contact (especially not anything positive), quickly becoming obsessed with the feeling of ed pressed up against him

theyre at work and stede is trying so hard to focus and get stuff done but ed keeps fidgeting with his pen... and. and every time he clicks it stede involuntarily jerks forward a bit because ed has trained him so well and his stupid doggy brain cant tell that isnt. the. time.
