Oh yeah, I still had some stinkies that I finished (mostly mysteries/thrillers 😂), but I’ve let go of a lot of the guilt I felt about not reading books. I can always get them back if I change my mind!! The beauty of the library!

My friend works on a Great Lakes freighter and was born just hours after the Edmund Fitzgerald went down. He wrote something about it on his site (where he often writes about life on the big freshwater lakers).

I’m the same!! I dnf’d way more books than usual, I think partially because I found so many great ones that the mostly-ok ones I’d have read in previous years just didn’t feel worth it? Which is very much a new ability for me (dnf-ing at all)!

So Ottawa doesn’t get many bigger artists (they all go to Toronto or Montréal outside of our summer festivals), but my favourite tall sad singing man is coming here!!!!! Thrills!!!!!!!

Yessss this is the Best Movie (I saw it for the first time when I was maybe 8-10ish at my aunt’s & have loved it ever since!!)

I find DiCaprio infinitely more tolerable in comedic roles vs dramatic, but still feel a bit of his self-consciousness seep in (in One Battle, I found it especially noticeable when he was with Del Toro, who’s such a natural at seeming like a full person on screen)

On a related note: my work is doing double matching today, so I'm donating to the Farley Foundation. A couple years ago I saw a news story on a similar place in BC that helps with vet costs so people didn't have to surrender their pets. Farley is the Ontario version.

This cross-pollination IS how new ideas happen. EVERY field needs humanistic thinking, that's why they call PhDs "Doctors of Philosophy"
