I can’t possibly agree with this more. Clinical trials agnostic to genetic risk is costing lives. We desperately need to be more mindful about whom to include and why

Nice view of a court out there. Would be a shame if a new assistant professor hustled a few locals on it.

(ER just out of frame in the more likely PI injury scenario)

A combined genomic arrhythmia propensity score delineates cumulative risk Monroe et al. analyze genome sequencing from individuals with early-onset ventricular arrhythmias. Combining the effect of common genetic variants with rare coding and noncoding regulatory variants in cardiomyopathy and arrhythmia genes predicts outcomes. Each component additively predicts arrhythmia with the cumulative GAPS performing best.

A simple idea we hope can be extended to other complex traits - we added together three layers of genetic risk for non-ischemic arrhythmia: high effect coding variants, regulatory elements mapping to them, and common variants thought to influence cardiac form and function.

Prominent critics - geneticists who dedicate their lives to understanding the minutiae. Prominent proponents - "tech elite" who fall for every trending health supplement and podcaster gimmick. 🀷. Maybe they'll pay me to stock the embryo warehouse shelves at least! Great to see the topic highlighted
