This Thanksgiving, I’m feeling extra grateful for my friends, family, and community. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Violence against our service members is vile and unacceptable. My family is praying for the West Virginia National Guard members who were attacked in DC today. As we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving, we're thinking of their families and all those who answer the call to serve.

I was proud to serve with Speaker Pelosi as we worked to pass landmark legislation like the Affordable Care Act, Wall Street Reform, and Lily Ledbetter – and I’m honored to have her support once again as I work to build on our legacy of progress for the American people.

If the Obamacare tax credits are allowed to expire, Illinoisans will pay an average of 78% more for health insurance through the ACA marketplace next year. Families simply cannot afford this. President Trump and the GOP must work with Democrats to extend the credits now.

This is the kind of progress we as Americans should expect from our elected leaders. I worked with President Obama and my fellow House Dems to pass Obamacare, and I'm running to represent #IL08 in Congress because you deserve to read more headlines about results, not chaos.

Congress shouldn’t be performative, it should be results-oriented.

We have to make housing more affordable and accessible so more Americans can get on the ladder. That means creating incentives for builders to develop starter homes and working with communities to attract young people. A 50-year mortgage is not the answer.

The median age for first time home owners right now is 40 years old – the highest it's ever been. And when home ownership gets pushed out of reach, young people can't climb the ladder of upward mobility.

I'm so proud to be the daughter of veterans. In WWII, my father served in the Marines and my father-in-law served in the Army. This #VeteransDay, I’m honoring them and all of the brave men and women who have answered the call to serve in America's Armed Forces.

For 250 years, the Marine Corps has been adapting, overcoming, and preserving a legacy of excellence. Today and every day, I'm grateful for the sacrifice and patriotism of our brave Marines – especially my dad George Luburich, one of Carlson's Raiders who served in the Pacific Theater.

I lost my seat in Congress after voting for the ACA, but I have never regretted that vote. Standing up for affordable health care was the right thing to do then—and it’s still the right thing now. I do not support this proposal that fails to ensure these tax credits continue.

It was an honor to be sworn in by you as our nation's first woman speaker of the house and a privilege to work alongside you to pass landmark legislation like the ACA, Wall Street Reform, and Lily Ledbetter for all Americans.

Thank you, Madam Speaker for your decades of principled, compassionate, and historic leadership. You will be deeply missed in the the halls of Congress, but I know your impact will continue to shape our party and country for years to come.
