It was my birthday but everyone's been so sick, stressed, worried about money, or the government imploding that I felt too guilty to bring it up. Instead, I'll gleefully spend the week taking full advantage of all the birthday freebies the coffee shops and food places sent me! Kitty needs treats!

So, when meeting new people do you tell them about how your anxiety will make you ghost the minute you feel like you're bothering anyone or do you tell them your name first? Asking for a friend... 🤣

Made the mistake I told myself I wasn't gonna make ever again. I got the Flu and Covid vaccines at the same time. T-T I feel like I was hit by a truck.

I guess the good news is we think we've solved at least one of my other medical problems! Yay for progress!

Back to work after medical leave. So far the only thing we know is something is wrong with me. Still trying to work out what. I am very frustrated about this.

Missed my team. Did not miss morning meetings. Our fearless leader brought treats so that helped. 🤣

Finished the Satisfactory missions on Christmas! I am so madly in love with the aurora! I've been punted off cliffs when I stopped to stare at the sky and didn't pay attention to my surroundings. Viva la Jet Pack! Ignore the spaghetti!!!!

Had to get an ultrasound today. Pulled up my shirt, slapped my belly a couple times, and said: "STRONK! Oh, I probably shouldn't do that in public."
Poor guy giving me the ultrasound blinked a couple times and then said: "Ok, that was hilarious."

This is why you can't take me out in public. 🤣

Iji will whimper in his sleep so the kittens will groom him until he's calm and then curl up next to him (or on him). It is absolutely adorable. This is Grandpa Iji and Princess Ranni. I love that these 2 are both full grown cats. 🤣 Iji is technically only 2 years old but gives big grandpa energy.

We spent the day setting up paints for a new project, had brunch at the local bakery, napped, made dinner, danced and played with the kittens until Gav and Gwyn were flopped out on the tile and little Ranni had fallen asleep in my apron. I didn't want it to end. I hope we have more days like this.

Stockings are up! The first 3 are from a sale last year and haven't been personalized. I'm not sure how but I'll figure it out next year. I need to make one for Iji and one for me, too. That will be a next year problem since I still have presents to make!

When I'm late feeding the kittens lunch, sweet little Ranni comes into my room, puts her little paws on my leg, tilts her head, and goes: "Myu?" in the most adorable way. This is in stark contrast to Gwyn who jumps on my chest, sticks his butt in my face, and farts. 😑

Sadness is getting out of voice chat at a "reasonable hour" because you are a "responsible adult" and need sleep to stay "healthy" but you can still hear your roommates online talking, laughing, and having fun... without you. 🥹

Randomly applied for an office manager job at a gaming company in a different country. I'm fairly sure I have no hope but it was a fun exercise and a girl can dream, can't she!? 🤣

It was decided last night that breakfast would be the official meal for birthday dinners especially since Echo's birthday is the day after Thanksgiving. The 2 day food coma still hasn't worn off but it was so worth it. 🤣

The plan had been baking today, turkey tomorrow, and then Echo's birthday dinner Friday but Aty and I spent most of the afternoon pulling the rear shocks off my truck. 🤣Oops! Tomorrow will be busy but my roomies deserve yummy food for being absolutely awesome. 😤

mactiir obsessed with mass market paperbacks. their pleasing rectangular proportions. how they fit badly in a hoodie pocket so you can drag them around everywhere with you like a temporary little buddy. the way they fit in your hand because they're MADE for human hands and not as bookshelf decoration. the way the pages feel when you riffle them gently with your thumb. How pristine and crisp they look when you get them and how creased and folded they look when you're done, even if you try to be nice to them. how that wear is okay, how that's correct actually, because they're made with the philosophy that books aren't meant to be PRETTY, they're meant to be read. that little ripple new ones get on the left side from where you hold them when you're reading, the way the ripple only goes as far as you've read, because u change stories by reading as they are changing you. how you can find thousands of these creased and folded and loved little dudes in every thrift store and used book shop and neighborhood library and you can instantly see the ones that someone carried around in a backpack for weeks or read to pieces or gave up on halfway through because they wear being read like fresh snow wears footprints. I love these poorly made, subpar little rectangles so much. truly the people's books.

When I was a kid, all of my paperbacks had a permanent curve. After the work was done, I'd stick one in the back pocket of my grubby, oversized jeans, hop on my horse, and let him graze while I flopped on his back and read for hours. No idea how I didn't die with no saddle or bridle. 🤣 Good Times!
