MIO is one of those "most screenshots could pass for concept art" kinda games, and I'm really digging it.

Unsuccessfully walking the line between 'memorable character' and 'forgettable human'. Lead designer on Into the Dead 2: Unleashed and ClusterDuck. Currently working on Our Darkest Days.

28.02.2026 01:09 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Seems like a lot of game journalists want to write about what "went wrong" with Highguard, as if the default for games is that they're successful out of the gate and have plenty of runway to iterate towards greatness, and something really uniquely unfortunate must have happened here.

21.02.2026 02:43 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Hasn't "wellness" always been a vague, hand-wavey term for the general concept of being healthy? Perhaps it had a defined term as far as regulation was concerned, but even then it seems to be defined by what it's not - something proven to offer important medical guidance?

The future we were afraid of vs the future we should have been afraid of.

Obviously the idea of a forced confession is a serious one, but when you send out a manifesto, then livestream your murders and get caught at the scene with the murder weapon, it seems like you've effectively confessed already.

Perhaps in the not-too-distant future we will look back and wonder how any tech startup (even one that can raise tens of billions of dollars from investors) thought they could ever compete with this.
05.02.2026 08:20 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I really enjoyed my time with South of Midnight. It's hard to identify any particular gameplay idea that hasn't been done before, and maybe a bit tighter, but the vibes are great. Really the best kind of 7/10, and an easy gamepass recommend.

Stories like this one seem to be increasingly common, and it's amazing that the response from the AI company seems to be along the lines of "Yeah, but we told him about a helpline when he got suicidal, so that's our job done"

Imagine what might potentially exist if a company pledged to spend $108B creating new media instead of buying stuff that already exists.
They wouldn't of course, because they don't actually have that much money, but still....
Kudos to Dell for being willing to admit that branding everything with AI didn't help sell more computers.
