Winter Gardens
31st Jan 2026
Bootleg Social, Blackpool

A great start to my run of gigs for this year, with 3 gigs from Winter Gardens. Tonight's gig was the best of the three, and just wish I could see the rest of tour. Great to catch up with @peterlatimer6.bsky.social too. #WinterGardens

They played with Ministry recently, and I was gutted that I just couldn't make it. Really looking forward to them doing a longer UK tour. Those EPs are great. 😎

Heartbreaking to read Gary's post. His brother died on Saturday. I met John a couple of times on Gary's tours in the 90s, and he was absolutely lovely to chat to. A very sad loss.

Just watched my BluRay edition of Gary Numan's 1000th show at The Electric Ballroom in 2023, and in the intro I spotted these two figures on the left; my mate JJ and me eating our chips, while waiting in the queue πŸ˜‚

Sadly Gary had some bad news earlier in the day, and the very personal Please Push No More, took more out of him than he expected. The crowd was behind him, but whoever came on to help him, thank you for giving him the hug we all wanted to give him. Thoughts are with Gary, Raven and his whole family

@garynumanofficial.bsky.social in Brum last night was outstanding, playing almost everything recorded around his Telekon era, celebrating 45 years of the album. The light show was a masterclass for any aspiring lighting designers. Obviously a difficult night, but the whole band gave everything 😎

I'm good, been seeing a lot of great bands recently. Winter Gardens a particular favourite at the moment. Sadly Victories At Sea cancelled their gig, but have seen Night Swimming again, Nightbus, Bleach Lab and more this month!

Another week to agonise over my choices! I thought 8084 was bad, this is worse πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Hope work is at least stressfree this weekend 😎

Peter Hook & The Light at the HMV Empire, Coventry were on top form tonight. Shadowplay was the best I've ever seen them play it. The opening set of Get Ready was great, but the selection of JD & NO tracks for the second was perfect.

Great to catchup with @katiesdisorder.bsky.social too 😎

Incidentally one of those early gigs was at Goldsmiths College in London, and the support was a relatively unknown band called Suede, back then with Justine and Justin later of Elastica fame 😎

Yeah it was definitely a great time. The first gig i saw them at was in Coventry promoting the first single. there were only 5 of us in the audience, so we ended up having a great natter to them all. After that i started following them round the uk and helping out where i could. Great memories 😊

I was at a lot of those early gigs, including filming the band at The Marquee, with Susie's cine-camera. They were a great band, with some great songs. Definitely should have been huge. I still have the demo cassette from Susie with tracks that may have ended up on the third album!

KWS seem to be acting on BlueSky's behalf. I opted for the credit card verification, but it was constantly declined, even though everything I've bought online before and after went through fine. Face scanning unnerves me, as I don't trust them to delete it afterwards, and not misuse it.

It was small, but the height was more of a problem. Not sure anyone could have seen Linda from the back! Still need to get the photos off my camera, but it looked like I got some nice ones.

I may well sleep in the car. Hotel prices are more expensive than staying in Central London!

They had some great b sides on those early singles. Got to see them play this, Late Bar and Khanada back in 1981 😎

Looks like I'll be banned from BlueSky, or have my account emptied by a scam. Anyone else been asked to authenticate via KWS?
