Ethel Cain started the year by setting the bar high.

Perverts is a Drone, Ambient, Slowcore and Etheral Wave album with a ton of religious parabels.

It's also a very personal Statement about herself and her path to liberation.

1. Zach Bryan - The Great American Bar Scene

Genres: Americana, Alt-Country, Heartland Rock

Zach Bryan created the greatest Country album I've heard in ages, with amazing lyrics, instrumentals and a peak vocal work that always feels very honest and intimate.

2. Floral Tattoo - The Circus Egotistica...

Genres: Indie Rock, Emo, Neo-Psychedelia

That one oomf that puts an artist you've never heard of on rank 2

I'm not trying to be pretentious, this is the shit! A blend of 90s Mercury Rev and Brave Little Abacus.

3. The Cure - Songs of a Lost World

Genres: Gothic Rock, Alt. Rock

It's just unreal that the Cure came into 2024 to casually drop their greatest work since the year I was born

Smith somehow manages to create an album here that sounds like his finest 80s work, yet very 2024

4. 4. Knocked Loose - You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To

Genre: Metalcore

Holy Banger! Knocked Loose latest effort goes incredibly hard from start to finish and has an unreal track run with no flaws and skips at all.

The perfect energizer. Peak fun

5. Sadness - Your Perfect Hands and My Repeated Words

Genres: Blackgaze, Shoegaze, Emo

Damiá Ojeda already made a ton of gorgeous albums balancing Shoegaze and Blackgaze and Your perfect Hands is one of their strongest and most beautiful albums with their best production yet

6. MGMT - Loss of Life

Genre: Neo-Psychedelia, Pop

MGMT never made a bad album. There, I said it.

Quite the opposite. They could have capitalised on Pop hits like Electric Feel or Kids, but rather reinvented themselves on each entry

LOL is their most adult & serious album yet

7. death's dynamic shroud.wmv - Before the Killing Spree

Genres: Art Pop, Industrial Rock, Post - Industrial

DDS released 10 albums/mixtapes this year and this is my favourite.

An Alarming and anxious, yet beautiful and melancholic album about the state of the world and personal Ego

8. Foxing - Foxing

Genres: Art Rock, Screamo, Post Hardcore

I love the feeling when you've never heard of an act before and they casually drop one of this year's greatest albums

St. Louis based Foxing takes us on a ride where no song is like the other and it fucking slaps!
