Trying to locate books that I *know* we have in the 5C system is now a nightmare. Using advanced search and Boolean terms helps, but only a bit.

I stayed at a hotel once that advertised a minibar with snacks. In the room, the minibar consisted of a sign that read: “please visit the snack machine in the lobby.”

Set a modest goal: just 100 words. Not necessarily good words, just words on topic. Once you’re at 100, chances are you’re not ready to stop. And if you are, you have 100 words more than you did to work with later.

The History of the Church by Eusebius of Caesarea - Paper Scholarship is a powerful tool for changing how people think, plan, and govern. By giving voice to bright minds and bold ideas, we seek to foster understanding and drive progressive change.

If scholars are going to cite or assign an English translation of Eusebius's Church History, it really ought to be Jeremy Schott's excellent work, which is a significant improvement on anything else available—and is also priced extremely accessibly.

2026-2027 SHOHET SCHOLARS GRANT FOR RESEARCH ON THE ANCIENT MEDITERRANEAN The Shohet Scholars Grant of the International Catacomb Society is now accepting applications for the 2026-2027 Shohet Scholars cohort. Awards up to $30,000. Submission deadline is February 1, 2026. This annual grant program funds research on the Ancient Mediterranean. Projects need not focus on the catacombs. Shohet Scholars may do their research in archaeology, art history, classical studies, history, comparative religions, or related subjects.
