Yep. It’s up to citizens to ensure they are informed and armed with accurate information. This failing is exceedingly evident on this platform. It’s comforting fiction to think that dangerous levels of misinformation only thrive on the right.

You’re both not wrong. The problem with American democracy is the lack of participation. It’s still a democratic process but the lower rates of citizens voting or even bothering to inform themselves leads to what you can see now.

And make no mistake, it can happen in any democratic nation.

Not only that, but women were suffering and dying (not to mention being forced to carry pregnancies, even when victims of rape) and a third of the American electorate chose not to vote to try to combat the problem.

It’s their responsibility, but there’s nothing spelled out in US law or the constitution as to when it should take place. It only dictates the process for nominating and confirming when such procedures are undertaken.

The solution was to vote out the entire Republican caucus. If even a handful of them cared about their country more than pursuing their conservative nationalist revolution, they could have ended the problem but chose not to.

There’s no violation of law, so beyond that no avenue.

They wouldn’t need to do so to the same degree because they wouldn’t have to put up with the drama to capitalize on the cult of personality.

Trump is a corrupt would-be czar. Vance is a dyed in the wool Christian nationalist who’s already much more beholden to the ideology.

Vance is a true believer much more beholden to the heritage foundation and Thiel. He would be worse.

And Americans knew it and voted for him to be president. Twice.
