Like, if we want to blame anyone for this is Disney, who began to slack behind Pixar and Dreamworks in animated features after the 90s, and instead of improving its track recorded in 2D animation, they just bought Pixar and told them "do my homework".

Worse yet, the tweet Boarnuff is quoting from was posted by Kneon, who, on YouTube, co-hosts the (appropriately named) channel Clownfish TV, which is one of the most obnoxious pushers of the "Go Woke, Go Broke" myth that has been seen through time and again by much smarter people.
Pixar never intended to replace 2D animation; the studio very much appreciates its craft.
What happened was that the general public began overlooking 2D animation because they found CGI more "hip", leading to every dedicated 2D animation studio either shutting down or switching to CGI.
