So now we can answer your first question. Asuka observes that Eva-13 is no longer in single-entry mode when the second set of eyes opens.

As for why Asuka would have any expectations in the first place, I don't have a useful hypothesis at the moment.

Also note how in Q, right after Kaworu dies, we see 13's lower set of eyes close (LEFT). This suggests that, for each synchronized pilot, one set of eyes open. Top pair maps onto left plug (little alpha), bottom pair maps onto right plug (big alpha).

It's a good question! For a starting point, check out this sequence of four cuts.
(A) Eva-13 rises off the cross. Only one set of eyes is open.
(B) 13 grabs 02 by the throat.
(C) 13 lifts its face into frame. All four eyes are now open.
(D) Asuka acts surprised that 13 isn't "single-entry".

(3/3) On a more "random" note, the shot of the spears morphing is the same number of frames as the close-up of Eva-02's entry plug. I have no idea if this is significant or not.

(2/3) Another interesting part of the parallel is that, both times, an observer (Mari in Q, Asuka in Shin) makes the stunned observation that something about Eva-13 is not as they expected. "It doesn't have an A.T. Field?!" / "It's not single-entry?!"

(1/3) More Eva-02=Lilith. Most notable here is how Eva-02, like Lilith, bloats into a sphere before exploding into LCL. In both cases this happens after Eva-13 unfolds its lower set of arms and pulls a long, thin object (or two) from Eva-02/Lilith's body. #evangelion

Last up: while Eva-13 gets to actually ascend from a red cross, pulling its hands free and everything, Eva-02 is the one who actually falls into golden LCL. The framing of the shot with the splash even positions Eva-02 as "falling into LCL before a red cross". (5/5)

Another layer to this parallel: Eva-02's giant light-body is made from Asuka's ATF, and Lilith's AATF seems to be a function of her ATF. Remember Eva-01 using her ATF to neutralize Sachiel's? Lilith is doing the same thing to everyone Earth. Code 999 calls back to the former, as well. (4/5)

Eva-02 bursting through the ceiling of Eva-13's chamber as it approaches its full size provides another call back to Lilith emerging from her Anti-A.T. Field larger than ever. (3/5)

The Code 999 sequence is full of weird allusions positioning Asuka and Eva-02 as Lilith figures. First the sealing pillar is ejected from Asuka's eye in imitation of Eva-01 bursting from Lilith's, and Asuka leans sharply backward like Lilith did. (1/5)

But, in my opinion, this is the moment where the films most clearly express what that relationship is. The four Adams together are, in some sense, "Lilith". So you basically have an Albion and Four Zoas (from Blakeian myth) situation here, to provide one possible point of comparison.

So: proxies for the four Adams, replicating Second Impact in some way, are referred to as "an artificial recreation of Lilith". But why?

The switch from an Adam-Lilith rivalry in NGE to there being Lilith and four Adams in NTE with a never-specified relationship has always taken fans off guard.

So... "same way Second Impact happened", eh? Four Adams' Vessels in four ships corresponds to the four radiant giants we see in flashback. The wings in the second image aren't defined well enough to get a proper "count", so let's not worry about that right now.

But this is more than some weird meta thing. When the first two ships produce wings, Misato says, "Wings of light? They plan to make Fourth Impact happen the same way Second did?" And with the final two ships joining in, "the stage is set" for Gendo to proceed with Another Impact, as per Fuyutsuki.

When the Adams' Vessels each project three wings apiece through the Nerv ships, Fuyutsuki refers to the "artificial creation of Lilith". 4 ships x 3 wings gives 12 wings total, same as Lilith from EoE, or the giant Rei later in Shin who acts as a visual reference to the same. #evangelion

This comparison is pushed even further with a callback that is probably impossible to miss. Both using an identical pattern, Lilith resonates with the MP Eva Series, while Eva-13 resonates with, presumably, the Adams' Vessels and the ships.

Eva-13 begins bound to a red crucifix in a chamber full of amber-colored LCL. Then, with the three cuts of it rising, the sense of deja vu really starts working overtime. In what sense is Eva-13 comparable to EoE's Lilith...? #evangelion #visualparallels

Of course, if you follow this comparison to its logical conclusion, you don't really end up anywhere that makes any more immediate sense of Asuka being compared to Giant Naked Rei, but the various weird questions you start asking yourself are part of the journey with these films...

The immediate situational context for the top is Eva-02 successfully latching onto Eva-01 "coffin". If you look at Eva-02's prosthetic arm here, the three loops at the end may remind you something.

With both of these having an upside-down orientation and an "Earth seen from space" backdrop, it lands on the side of "intentional" for me. Getting actual meaning out of the comparison is a whole other thing, though...

The movement of the 3DCG model for Eva-02 is of course nowhere near as dynamic as the hand(-drawn) animation for Lilith, but do note the similar pose, and how the tip of Eva-02's ring finger cheekily "touches" Maya's head.

First up -- Eva-02 "is" Lilith! (See follow-up post if you don't believe me.) Interesting contrast here is that GNR ascended from below, whereas Eva-02 is being lowered down. The orientation of the hands reflects this difference in directionality.
