23.02.2026 20:26 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This cannot go on. We have a national emergency of bad driver behaviour. A young girl walking her dog close to where she lives, crossing the road. Iβm tired of having to live in this hellscape.

I recall canvassing for a politician some years ago. When the young woman said that she wouldn't vote for my candidate, I was gearing up for a good policy debate. When I asked her 'Why not?' she replied with 'The look of him.'.
I couldn't really debate that. It's as valid a reason to vote as any.
"I yearn for you tragically.
R.O. Shipman, Group Chaplain"
From Catch-22, when Yossarian got bored censoring the men's letters home, and so censored everything except this final line from the introverted Anabaptist chaplain, who lived in a tent in the woods on his own, to avoid the other officers.
I've had that thought myself from time to time.

It's a dreadful system, but sure, it's the one thing I can do that SHOULD have some real impact.
If the success rate is just over 1% though, you'd have to wonder about impact!
It really does seem very strange. Perhaps some underlying data quality issues?

The article is somewhat ambiguous, but the PQ response is clear - the 60 is the total number of FCPNs for any offence issued for the 4885 reports.
That's a success rate of 1.2%, which would suggest that this process is not effective.
Either I make up more than half of this national total or there's something very strange with the figures being quoted here. @liamquaidetd.bsky.social @irishcycle.com @irishcyclingcmpn.bsky.social @dublincycling.bsky.social @ibike.ie

18.05.2025 22:18 β π 0 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Cartoon entitled "Road Positioning" and subtitled "Times when it might be safer to cycle in the middle of the lane". There are four illustrated examples 1. Approaching road narrowings where it would be unsafe for drivers to overtake e.g. traffic islands etc 2. In slower-moving traffic. Keeps you visible. You can move over to the left again if the traffic speeds up. 3. Where there are parked cars and a car door might be opened. 4. On quiet roads. Keeps you away from various hazards found in the gutter.
People who cycle are often accused of cycling "in the middle of the road".
What they really mean of course is cycling in the middle of the lane, and there are lots of good reasons why people do this, explained succinctly in this @davewalker.bsky.social cartoon for @cyclinguk.bsky.social

For those of you who can't bring yourself to read about Peter Thiel, Elon Musk & their new aristocracy built on billionaires, at least watch this short clip. If you don't understand how AI & technology are taking over our government & your lives, you're missing the main game. They want you dead.

This is ridiculous, where is the traffic management plan. Cycling is a legitimate from of Transport.
Nobody should have to dismount, clearly Jonathan can't. I explained this was a concern.
Pedestrian to mix with people cycling from two-way to in a very narrow section of roadway.
Absolutely infuriating but sadly not surprising. Huge amount of careless, aggressive, and downright reckless driving in Dublin these days.

This was a punishment pass, for not using the on-path cycle lane (which doesn't go where I was going) presumably?
Is it worth reporting to Dublin Bus?
It is so obvious here that he had the easy choice to stay away from you, but chose not to. He is using his professional device as a weapon against you. If Dublin Bus doesn't see it, they are complicit.

Some judges have concerns on sargeants as βpresenterβ of number of cases, so individual Gda has to attend. Huge reform needed, online attendance, video statements, etc

today would have been just a plea, then setting a date for substantive hearing. This seems like waste of my and everyone's time. Could minor cases not be wrapped up on the same day?
