I’m rewatching The Shape of Water! I’m teaching it this semester in my film and literature class focused on disability.

Disability in film and literature is going great! Finished Cinder and watching The Shape of Water for Unit 1: physical difference and disability.

An uneducated population is easier to control.

An illiterate (including media literacy) population is easier to control.

A population incapable or unwilling to think critically is easier to control.

Defunding education and libraries, banning books, promoting unfettered generative AI…
