Also installed this custom shell and backlit screen on a friends GBA the other night.

Second time doing an og DS shell swap. Took me less than half the time it did the first time, and no casualties this time!

I've always liked red, specially on devices and electronics. Never quite leaned into it, until now!

It's friday.

I did my very first DS shell replacement last night.

Managed to get over my fear of ribbon cables! Everything went pretty smoothly, had only one casualty with a piece that snapped, and then the LED transparent piece didn't want to slide into place.

Console works perfectly after reassembly.

The other day I completed a childhood dream of mine.

While they're not all original, I can at the very least catch 'em all and transfer using my legit Sapphire and Leaf Green games.

This way I can also trade with friends! Been learning and working on restoring GBA and DS consoles. Will share soon!

Bought a new battery and my Umbreon from probably 10+ years ago was still there. I lost that save file long ago... poor guy! I guess he'd be the prime Frustration user though!

This device is so charming, Chikorita is on a stroll with me now and I can't wait to catch some new additions for my team!

Anyway I'm getting a new battery for my Pokéwalker tomorrow and starting a new SoulSilver file.

I've read some horror stories of people that opened theirs after years stored away and the battery corrosion fried the chip.

Opened mine... no battery at all! 😎

Nice one, I've heard some fun stories about grabbing things on e-bay that cheap. Never given it a shot though! I got this one through an IG store.

Maybe they're the ones getting them on e-bay and reselling locally!

You're gonna hate me for this but I did get a black replacement shell because this one was a tad too yellow in the pics.

I think it's in good enough state it doesn't need a plate change yet though! Maybe I'll do a black button Frankenstein mix up.

I got an original DS in pretty good condition for 35 bucks.

Now I can pretend it's 2004 and my family is well off!

Only a single battle on Mossdeep City per card though; experience on it's own is fun, I can only imagine what they could have done with these if they kept them going. A shame we don't have much cards on the west.

Having an e-Reader card of your own trainer would be awesome as well.

Friend at work got hold of some e-Reader Trainer cards for Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire, so I'm bringing my setup tomorrow so we can test them out and have some old school battles!

Must not forget: buy AA batteries!

Update: We shared a hotdog today.

Normally, I'm unnecessarily tidy when I eat. Burgers, pizza, hotdogs... all using fork & knife. Guy doesn't like that I do this with hotdogs, since they're sacred.

As a compromise, I said I would eat one with my hands if we could share one 🥰

I beat the second Lace fight in Silksong today at the office (on the big tv!) and everyone cheered for me 😭💖

Then we played some Smash and Mario Kart and I kicked ass 😎

They also cheered when they took a stock from me 😅
