I did once find a forest of aspen suckers in a crawlspace.

Also, when is your Sequim lecture on bluffs?

I can no longer count the number of times I have consulted on a mass planting and seen almost every tree planted well below the root flare. Or else see them slowly sink because the holes are dug with machinery that loosens soils deeper than necessary.

contented to be the guy drinking beer while the young pups demonstrate aerial rescues and arboreal yoga, or whatever they're doing up there...

it will be interesting to see how this affects the tree and plant development next year.

Our extended cold of Jan and Feb will balance out the weirdly warm Nov-Dec, the choruses of Christmas Frogs and early blooming Salmonberry.
In hindsight, this year will be looked back on as "average."
But in the here and now, this has been one very weird weather winter.
