We extended the Emergency Response Fund that shields Connecticut from federal funding cuts and protects vital health and human services for our communities. Amid chaos and uncertainty, this fund will be available through the end of the next fiscal year to quickly respond to additional reductions.

July 26th marks the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Join me in celebrating this milestone in the fight for equity, access, and inclusion. Let’s continue working to ensure Connecticut is a place where everyone can thrive, without barriers. ♿️🌟

✔️ Ends harmful “step therapy” delays. Patients with MS, rheumatoid arthritis, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depression will no longer be forced to try cheaper meds first while their condition worsens, and trial periods are also cut from 60 to 30 days.

✔️ Enforces mental health parity—with real consequences. Insurers must treat mental health like physical health, and those who don’t comply can face fines up to $625,000 and must publicly report how they’re doing.

Here’s what it does:

✔️ Caps excessive premium hikes. Allows the Connecticut Insurance Department to limit rate increases for insurers that have a track record of hiking costs.

✅ SIGNED INTO LAW!

In case you missed it - Governor Lamont signed legislation this week that puts patients first and holds insurance companies accountable.

Among the provisions:

✔️20% tax credit for “farm investment property”

✔️Crop loss reimbursement

✔️Drone regulations to boost innovation

✔️Support for shellfish, agritourism & more

✔️Expanding land access grants

✅ SIGNED INTO LAW!

House Democrats approved a reform on Wednesday to stop the weaponization of our legal system by using defamation lawsuits to silence victims. Communications that detail sexual discrimination, harassment or assault will now be kept confidential in civil court.

Children are our future, and it is our responsibility to provide them a proper education. In a state that has one of the best K-12 public school systems in the country, this bill makes sure our special education program maintains that same level of quality. Onto the Senate!
