Potassium silicate improves cellular sodium homeostasis in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cultivars differing in salt resistance Potassium silicate can decrease the uptake of sodium (Na+) into wheat cells by affecting the Na+ uptake channels and increasing ion homeostasis.

The study shows that potassium silicate reduces cytosolic Na⁺ in wheat mesophyll cells, shedding light on mechanisms behind salt tolerance in different cultivars.
