of entertaining Negroes & servants and keeping a disorderly house and was required to pay 10 Shillings.

It really bothered me to see that when her partner shows up in the picture you see the community turn on her again. They hauled her into court for consorting with servants and negros in May 1745. In October 1746 she was brought in again and was found guilty

She was hauled before a grand jury in 1735 for "bearing of her body a base born Mulatto Child". When her indenture was over she is later found paying taxes for herself and her 4 free Mulatto children. Her family was made whole when her children's father, John, bought his own freedom.

When John Sorrell died Ann remarried to John Footman, the man who decided it was better to turn her in to get free labor than it was to provide for an orphan.

Elizabeth Lucas born 1717 Nomini, Westmoreland County, British Colonial Virginia to Temperance Smith and Charles Lucas who both died around 1718 leaving Elizabeth an orphan. She was taken in by John Sorrell and his wife Ann who lived adjacent to her parents land.

I found court records today for my white 8th GGmother showing they made her an indentured servant for the crime of having a mulatto baby because she couldn't afford to pay the $15 fee.

I thought it was interesting that he left his pension and half of his belongings to one daughter and split the rest of his estate among his other five children.

I found a record today for a 2nd cousin 5 times removed George F. Liverpool. He worked as a laborer in 1885, for the 49th Congress of the United States. I also found a copy of his will which left his pension to his daughter.
