My #BlackHistoryMonth. My paternal grandparents, Antoinette Wilhelmina Sanches and James Johannes Gordijk. Both born in Suriname, in 1897 and 1887 respectively, and they started their family in Guyana. James' father, Frederik Willem Gordijk, was born into slavery in 1859. He died in 1938.

Great evening with Marit Stiles and Catherine Fife and a bunch of energised folks, fixing the world over a few drinks and chicken wings.

I can't offer any perspective on being a #Wilmot councillor. As a former resident, I'm willing to prepare any "diverse" candidates for community reactions, including copies of police reports, integrity commissioner's reports, racist emails, anonymous letters mailed to my home, and blog posts.

I was honoured to pay tribute to former MPP Mike Farnan in the presence of his family at Queen's Park today. Mike passed away earlier this year after a lifetime in the service of others. He served with integrity, charm, warmth, and a strong sense of humour. He will be missed by many.

Chair of the police civilian board wants a pat on the back because in 2023, the WRPS started measuring its disproportionate use of force against racialized people. In the meantime, he also wants to increase funding to hire more of the police whose disproportionate use of force is being measured 🤷🏻‍♂️

The play is about Grandview Training School For Girls in Galt, where my friend Lynda was incarcerated as a child.
