I used to LOVE Firefly. had regular viewings with my college besties, wrote fanfic I’m still proud of, knew entire scenes by heart, played River Tam in a LARP. LOVED IT. But any attempt at a reboot/relaunch is a bad idea made up of a lot of smaller bad ideas and this has always been true.

kansans: if you want to call your state legislators about the anti-trans bill SB244, I reached actual humans in Senate President Ty Masterson and House Speaker Dan Hawkins's offices on the first try. I think that means not enough people are calling.

I don't unreservedly agree with every single bit of this essay, but I agree with the overall message, and I thought of @kateschapira.bsky.social more than once while reading it.
