Definitely some evidence that Fletcher is working with ICE/DHS.

Given that MnDOT snowplows were there... it was probably MnDOT that closed the ramps.

I went to an anti-war protest in Minneapolis this afternoon. There were over a hundred people on the corner of Lake and Chicago. These clips were filmed by me.

If you think empathy is a bad thing, you’re almost certainly a bad person.

Find Out Exactly How Much Downtown Highways Cost Your City β€” Streetsblog USA "How much does it actually cost to be car dependent?" This Dallas-based analyst set out to answer that question for cities across the U.S.

"...by tearing highways out of their innermost downtown cores or converting them to boulevards, cities can unlock billions of dollars of redevelopment potential, increase badly-needed property tax revenues, and reduce individual households' commute costs..."

Several hundred people gathered on a vacant lot in front of a mural painted with a giant green woman's face, brown eyes looking down at them. They hold signs saying US hands off Iran, No new US war in the Middle East, Stand Up Fight Back, Down with Trump. Picture taken from across Lake Street, crosswalk in foreground.

Lake and Chicago, Minneapolis, about 5:30 pm today.

True, there was! And it didn't do enough business (at least at the rent they had to pay) to stay there.

Or it could be historical like St. Anthony Park where the residents overtly kept it a dry area until relatively recently.

Mosaic monarch butterfly with a red heart center LOVE & PROTECT - Stand With Minnesota Minnesota Immigrant NEIGHBORS Stand with Minnesota

Orange background:
When A Home Is Not A Home
My child is a home that keeps changing shape.
When they were seven, watching the news, Seeing Brown children in cages, my child turned to me and asked
if men in uniform would come take them away, take their grandma away,
to somewhere they don't know and know no one, even though nothing wrong was done.
I remember all the times my parents held me while they trembled with a fear they told me about but that I didn't comprehend -
I was already lost to the music from the radio, books in the library,
the bright boxes in the toy aisle in this America, where I was not born but was all I knew.
My mom asked me what I wanted and I said I just
want
A safe place to raise my child and she laughed and said in Vietnamese:
No place is safe.
(When you become a parent everyone drives too fast
Got too many guns
Doesn't speak enough languages)
When I am away from my child
even if the distance is not as great as an ocean, or
visa,
or a horizon of iron bars,
I feel a pain that I have no words for,
β€’ and words
are all l have.
I used to think my child changed shape because all life is trouble,
but really, they change because they need to house
what is inside them.
I hope no one ever takes that from them, no matter what they do.
This world is bigger than any one of us.
Why do we keep making home
smaller for one another?
Born in a war, I am made of what I know and what I can't know but that weighs me down, all of it moving with me from place to place, across borders made of law, of nature, of fear, of race, of money.
How many times in this life Will we stand who knows where
Wondering who
Will take us from home?

Went to hang with the hippies of Powderhorn. Super cool human mosaic, holding cards to aerial shot .

The orange card has a beautiful poem from Bao Phi

So cool how Trump says we'll be bombing Iran for an indeterminate amount of time, and people should stay in their houses because it's not safe, but somehow they're supposed to rise up and take over the government at the same time.

Gentle reminder that social media is often the worst place to hang out when really bad things happen.

Minnesota folk, you have a whole lot of new local friends. I humbly suggest you go make plans with them to do something to make something better today, instead of doom scrolling for hours.

This draft Trump EO on voting is even nuttier than you imagined. Zeroing out all voter rolls and making everyone re-register in person. Mandatory annual online re-registration. Requiring anyone casting an absentee ballot to find a notary. No dropboxes. All post-election disputes federalized. 😟

a universal constant among human heuristics seems to be that people always estimate the current Dumb Thing as being As Dumb As Things Can Possibly Get, or at least a gentle escalation away from it. meanwhile history has shown that things can nearly always get a lot dumber than they already are
