Welcoming public spaces are not bad. However, in this context marginalized community members are perpetually guests, made to assimilate & perform gratitude. Equitable public spaces create good ground for all of us to collectively establish values, vision & stewardship roles.

A welcoming public space is not the same as an equitable public space. A welcoming public space invites & represents marginalized communities. An equitable public space is co-created with & redistributes power to marginalized communities.
