Trump forgets that the US, since the end of WW2, has discouraged the Europeans from rebuilding powerful military. Instead, the US offered Europe its nuclear umbrella and NATO. Germany, in particular, was strongly encouraged to turn into a pacifist country without nuclear weapons.
